Talk:DeChavilier Massacre

Question about Aaron DeChavilier

Does DeChavilier have a profile in any book? I don't recall seeing one, but I was wondering, because he could use a page certainly. Either way, I will eventually make a page for him. Just thought I would ask. --Rebs 07:07, 7 April 2012 (PDT)

Liberation of Terra - Volume I. Just released. ClanWolverine101 12:54, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
Awesome! I'll wait on the moratorium. Besides, I don't have it yet lol... If the time comes and I still don't have it it would be great if someone could start it with the info, and I'll do the legwork of tracking down everything else about him in the sources I have access to. --Rebs 16:12, 9 April 2012 (PDT)

Mech

It seems to be a big mistake here. Gen. DeChevilier was piloting an Warhammer, not an Atlas during his last fight. vgl. Classic Battletech--> Clan Founder: Breakaway--> S.262

Msg Maj. Bolson: " ...i swear, at least half of the salvo hits the Warhammer of the General directly. There is... simply nothing...!"— The preceding unsigned comment was posted by 87.171.216.207 (talkcontribs) 06:01, 9 April 2012‎.

I don't know the source Clan Founder: Breakaway, but it's entirely possible that this early reference to his death had him piloting a Warhammer. Unfortunately, as I don't have that source, I cannot honestly make note of it. Feel free to add the discrepency to the Notes section. It has been determined however that DeChavilier was using an Atlas in the later sources.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 11:54, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
Hey guys, just got in from work. I Saw something else about a Warhammer too in the Jade Falcon Sourcebook, but this is what I have from Op Klondike:
"He ejected moments before his Atlas was consumed from the inside by his own ammunition exploding, but even before the helpless man floated down to the ground, the rebels ripped him apart with heavy weapons fire." p 20, second column, Karen Nagasawa Price of Liberty
I went with the newest source, though I did like the idea that he piloted a Warhammer. It definitely should go into a notes section of this article and a DeChavilier biography. Edit: I need to change that part too, because an early source said he was hit in mid air by a missle. It is a pain to keep the loose ends nailed down with some of these sources. But I have been trying to go by New trumps Old. I know that a missle is a heavy weapon, so maybe it's fine... You guys tell me. --Rebs 15:56, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
According to Star Lord, he piloted an Atlas when they took down Amaris. ClanWolverine101 17:39, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
Yes, it's clear that an Atlas is the appropriate 'Mech to go with, though I don't think we have a policy here that explicitly states new trumps old. It stands to reason, since that is how CGL handles it. However, I think old data like these should be documented, but just in the Notes section.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 18:16, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
Having documented my share of discrepancies, do we even know which publication said it was a Warhammer? ClanWolverine101 19:29, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
I was searching for it myself earlier and cannot find it, though i gave up for now. I've been in the middle of writing Devon LeFabre's bio, which is turning out to be quite long no matter how I try to compress the info. If it does not turn up, the note can be deleted. But I will continue to search, and maybe someone else might happen along with the ref. --Rebs 21:55, 9 April 2012 (PDT)
We do have somewhat of a record for the source Clan Founder: Breakaway mentioned above. It's a German published novel. I do not have it nor do I speak German beyond a few words, though maybe Doneve might be familliar with it. If he could sometime confirm the above ref, then it should definitely be expanded upon in the notes. --Rebs 21:38, 30 April 2012 (PDT)
Gotcha. Its my understanding the German novels aren't 100% canon, but it would still make for an interesting note. ClanWolverine101 22:19, 30 April 2012 (PDT)
