I know the Assassin was produced by Defiance at one point, but I can't figure which plant. Any help? ClanWolverine101 20:01, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

defiance industries a joint venture?[edit]

hello, as far as i remember there was with the very first mech, the mackie "secret" extraction of the blueprints, they where stolen by loki and rim world secret service in a rare cooperation of both states. so there was defiance industries on hesperus before archon viola was alive or iam wrong? didnt remember the exact sourcebook, but it was an old one, as far as i remmember...

thanks heinzbond

The Terran Hegemony had apparently chartered part of the planet from the Lyrans to build the Defiance Industries BattleMech factory into the Myoo mountains. It was a Hegemony-exclusive installation on a Lyran planet. I don't think the reasoning behind this strange Hegemony decision was never revealed. See Proliferation Cycle: Prometheus Unbound. Chameleon[edit]

Hello, I have not worked on these production pages, and I am certain I will miss something. Can someone add production info for the Chameleon, which was produced at Defiance Industries on Hesperus II until 3052? Thanks!--S.gage (talk) 21:17, 4 October 2012 (PDT)

Founding Year[edit]

How can be the Founding Year of the Defiance Industries Company 2577? Defiance Industries start fabrication of the Zeus Battlemech for the Lyran Commonwealth at 2458.

What source tells you that they started working on the Zeus in 2458? The earliest model of the Zeus is the ZEU-5T, which was introduced in 2787, a few hundred years after you say they started working on it. So I think it's safe to say that they started in 2577. Additionally, they also produced mechs older than the Zeus such as the Wasp and Locust, but this doesn't mean that they were the first to produce them. -BobTheZombie (talk) 19:35, 24 March 2014 (PDT)
This is one of the oldest errata issues in BattleTech and dates from the 1980s - the intro date for the Zeus was given in TRO:3025 from the first edition (and through several reprintings) as 2458, despite it being a Lyran 'Mech and Hesperus II being a Terran Hegemony company, not a Lyran one. It's been corrected on the MUL and in various reprinted TROs (including TRO:3039, I think) by moving the intro date of the Zeus.BrokenMnemonic (talk) 00:45, 25 March 2014 (PDT)
Ah, that makes sense; I was only using the resources available to me. Thanks for clearing that up. -BobTheZombie (talk) 04:25, 25 March 2014 (PDT)
One of the reasons I remember that one so distinctly is that there've been a few discussions on the CGL forum in the few years I've been there where people have discussed FASA's continuity and editing issues, and the intro date of the Zeus is one of those flagged up as an example of things that went wrong - another is the absence of Tikonov from the original Objective Raids, despite it being one of the biggest 'Mech production centres in the Inner Sphere. And I know it makes me a sad git that I can remember such things... BrokenMnemonic (talk) 06:00, 25 March 2014 (PDT)
The source is follow Book: http://www.amazon.de/Battletech-Die-Welt-31-Jahrhunderts/dp/3453213661. Page 416, Zeus fabrication start 2458. Page 308, commencement of Defince Mechplant at Hesperus II 2578. No more info for the founding Year of the Company.— The preceding unsigned comment was posted by ‎87.176.238.10 (talkcontribs) .
We actually have an article here on Die Welt des 31. Jahrhunderts that indicates the book doesn't meet the criteria for being canon and an explanation of why. Frabby can probably provide more detail - from the little I know of the book, it appears to me that the introduction date for the Zeus mentioned in the book has been taken from an earlier source, Technical Readout: 3025, which was itself ruled to be incorrect. DI Schmitt erroneous gun listing[edit]

Manufacture of Schmitt's ScatterGuns are listed as Light Machine Guns. TRO 3145 lists 2 machine guns for the primary model. MechFactory (which uses word for word entries) also lists it as having "Scattergun Lights" but lists them as standard machine guns. I don't have the Lyran source that Defiance Industries' page has listed. However, the machine guns are called: "ScatterGun Light" machine guns, the same brand as those featured on the Vedette from TRO 2750 / TRO 3026 and listed under "machine gun". I was originally going to ask about the confusion of ScatterGun Light being an MG and ScatterGun being an LMG while doing research for an MW5 Mercs lore weapon mod, but it seems I've found the listing of the ScatterGun Light MG's listing as an LMG to be an erroneous based on the confusion from a name. Wanted to check in before editing the main page. ~ Koniving1 9/24/19

TRO:3145 and TR0:3145 Lyran Commonwealth are identical listing the DI Schmitt specifically as carrying 2 "ScatterGun-Light" Machine Guns, so the person who added them here missed or misread that dash. Another annoying example of lack of consistency as TRO:3039 Vedette entry lists it as a "Scatter Gun Light" Machine Gun, so are they same after all... Cyc (talk) 20:58, 24 September 2019 (EDT)

Thank you for confirming. Now that I know how to use the discussion aspect, I can use this to bring up all kinds of inconsistencies and let others make the corrections until I figure out how make the source-listing work. Koniving1
