Talk:Deimos (MekTek)

Return to "Deimos (MekTek)" page.

Load outEdit

Okay so I was entering this mech into Heavy Metal Pro, and I noticed the speed,(70.01 km/h), you have listed on the page is NOT possible for this mech with the listed weapons. I understand that this coming from the video game format, but you need to have something on there that covers the possibility of it not being 100% legal under the construction rules. — The preceding unsigned comment was provided by (talkcontribs) 17 January 2010.

I must admit I only tried putting a couple of MekTek units into Heavy Metal Pro and this was not one of them. Is the engine problem the only one you found? --Dmon 11:29, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

MekTek TagEdit

Should the (MekTek) be dropped from the article title once the Moratorium on Technical Readout: 3085 Supplemental is up? --Dmon 01:13, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

This should definately be merged with Deimos; it has been confirmed to be canon, making this page redundant. Any other opinions? -BobTheZombie (talk) 14:59, 11 November 2013 (PST)

I suppose it could be merged, but a new section for any game-related material (apocryphal) may need to be created.--Raven 2C (talk) 15:13, 11 November 2013 (PST)
Personally, i would rather keep this version of the Deimos off main canon article itself. We can have section for the apocryphal, but there just too much information load into it. I rather keep things seperated. -- Wrangler (talk) 15:22, 11 November 2013 (PST)
I'll cross-check the info later when I have more time and get back to you then. -BobTheZombie (talk) 16:51, 11 November 2013 (PST)
Since the 'Mech, and this particular weapons loadout, was canonized, I see no reason to have a separate article. I support the merge. --Scaletail (talk) 17:01, 11 November 2013 (PST)
Hm, i think we add an see also link on both pages, any thouhts.--Doneve (talk) 18:34, 11 November 2013 (PST)
I'm back with my official report: The only discrepancies between the two pages lies in the Description section (excluding the LAMS claim of the MekTek article, as opposed to the normal AMS of the canon), specifically the points listed below.
  • The MekTek article claims that it was named after the Deimos Project, yet this isn't supported by any sources, and could simply be a coincidence in naming.
  • The Mektek article claims it has 15.5 tons of FF armor, while the canon article says 14.5 of standard. In this instance, I'd trust the canon source.
  • The MekTek article claims a "massive 350XL" engine, while the canon source greatly downgrades it from 70+ kph to 54 kph, but adds a MASC to compensate. Once again, I'd go with the canon sourced claims.
So in conclusion, perhaps it warrants a slot in the Variants section (with appropriate apocryphal tags), but not an entire page. Thoughts? -BobTheZombie (talk) 20:18, 11 November 2013 (PST)
Seems to be the right way to handle it to me. --Scaletail (talk) 17:23, 12 November 2013 (PST)
Just came across this while creating the disambiguation page. Yes, I support the merger - the MekTek Deimos is just an (apocryphal) variant of the canon Deimos now that there is a canon Deimos. If you merge, please adjust Deimos (disambiguation) accordingly. Frabby (talk) 14:40, 6 February 2014 (PST)
Okay, I'll go ahead and move it a little later when I start work on the MekTek article. -BobTheZombie (talk) 15:16, 6 February 2014 (PST)
