TRP-1 Trooper redirect?

Why does Trooper (BattleMech) redirect to the Flea?

Because for the first 20 years of its life that's what it was called and no other 'Mechs are known to be called Trooper. Much like Nexus II redirecting to the Nexus page, redirect to cover name change rather than whole new article. Cyc 21:47, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Armament Section question

Where it says "These are backed up by an unfortunately placed Olympian Flamer which works well for anti-personnel use." I am lost. I see nothing in the wiki to support the statement that the flamer is "unfortunately placed" or why. Is this opinion, canon, something else? Some supporting information for this statement would be helpful or it should probably be left out. Varcoris

TRP-1 Trooper typo?

Is anyone aware if an old source listed the Trooper as TRP-1 before its appearance in Experimental Technical Readout: Primitives, Vol 5 (TP-1R)? If it is a typo, I can fix it easily and source it XTRO:P,v5. That should be all that's left as far as the Moratorium period with the inclusion of Technical Readout: Succession Wars information as well, although we need a page for Toddlett Industries (bought by Earthwerks, and possible expansion of notable pilots).Thehawk (talk) 08:34, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

Two sources designate it as TRP-1 - Stardate volume 3 issue 1 and the Wolf's Dragoons (sourcebook) page 105, both specifically mentioning - FLE-15 Flea/FLE-4 Flea (Formerly the TRP-1 Trooper)Cyc (talk) 09:00, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

Thank you Cyc. In your opinion and others, how should we handle this? 1. Change "TRP-1" in the top description to the latest source renaming it as "TP-1R" to reflect the primitive variant and add a Note to the notes section describing how the Trooper was originally named according to older sources. 2. Leave and source to the original for TRP-1 in the description to those older sources at the end of the sentence. Additionally if the opinion is for the #1, should we expand the description for the Flea's origins? The XTRO:P,v5 has quite a bit of new info regarding the original Trooper. I tried to condense that information in the new variant listing for TP-1R, however if its agreed to expand the description I can place it there and shorten the TP-1R variant information.Thehawk (talk) 10:51, 26 July 2017 (EDT)

Opted for what Technical Readout: 3039 did - just say Trooper and don't mention designation :) With regards any of the XTROs, we need to definitely roll in info from the various Primitive variants to the Description blocks, but as always it needs to be a balance - with regards the Trooper/Flea I'd probably mention design difficulties, the corruption and Earthwerks buying the rights from Toddlett as it was refined but leave the excessive detail for a Toddlett Industries page.
