Tone symbol[edit]

CGL itself is inconsistent in which tone mark to use on the name, sometimes using both even on the same page of a TRO. Is it just that ĕ and ě look so similar that there's confusion or do they indicate two different tones? Either way, which do we use? Madness Divine (talk) 13:32, 1 April 2022 (EDT)

The caron "ě". The breve "ĕ" doesn't exist in pinyin, which is clearly the inspiration for the unit's name.--GreekFire (talk) 13:40, 1 April 2022 (EDT)
Did someone use the english pronunciation as the spelling of the word? https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E7%8C%9B%E7%A6%BD Sorry... the "Romanization" https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/m%C4%9Bngq%C3%ADn
Thanks, GreekFire. Looks like I have some breves to hunt on all five vowels.
No idea on who first did what the Chinese names; all I know for sure is that whoever is doing the French and Spanish accents reverses the acute and grave sometimes, even at CGL. Madness Divine (talk) 15:09, 1 April 2022 (EDT)
How dare you remind me of the Chasseurs á Cheval, you scoundrel. --GreekFire (talk) 15:33, 1 April 2022 (EDT)
