Equipment from Mods

I think this should have a section for equipment from the base game and a separate section for equipment from mods. Just using headings to divide the two would be sufficient. As it is, it's harder than it needs to be to tell what equipment is in the base game. --Trifler (talk) 20:56, 19 August 2014 (PDT)

Hello. I don't quite see how it is difficult to tell what equipment is available in the base MC2. Then again, it might just be me, as I am the creator of this page and layout... Each weapon has a trait listed as "Availability"; I might change that to "Game Version" or something similar. The intent behind the page format is to take up less space, as there is a lot more equipment yet to be listed. I might also be misunderstanding what you are asking, pardon. If there is anyone else that has advice regarding data layout or anything, please do present your thoughts. Thanks! Smiley.gif--Raven 2C (talk) 12:24, 21 August 2014 (PDT)
I'm just talking about listing vanilla equipment under a ==Vanilla Equipment== heading and everything else under an ==Equipment from Mods== heading. I do appreciate that it was probably a lot of work to make all those tables. --Trifler (talk) 01:07, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
That makes a lot of sense, but may make the article quite long. Also, you can't easily compare them if you'd want to see the changes the mod made vs the vanilla. Whichever way we do it, I think it needs to be uniform throughout the rest of the game subpages. -BobTheZombie (talk) 13:53, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
Hmm... What about doing both? Leave everything the way it is now, but add one table that has all of the vanilla weapons all together for people who are looking for a quick reference. In place of the Game Version on that table could be the weapon name. This would avoid making the article real long and leave the vanilla in the existing tables for comparison purposes. It would also avoid problems with linking to parts of the page. --Trifler (talk) 16:18, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
Maybe create a separate sub-sub-page that holds all of the Vanilla equipment in one big table, so as not to create one (still) overly long page....?--Raven 2C (talk) 18:49, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
Um... No? Maybe? I actually think a big table for all the vanilla weapons at the bottom would be good, one that has the ability to have a category selected to organize it, say from most damage to least damage, heaviest to lightest, fastest to slowest reload, etc. It wouldn't be too hard to do, we'd just need to ask Mbear about how to set it up. What do you think of that idea? -BobTheZombie (talk) 19:35, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
Sure. I'm fairly new to this stuff, so whatever you guys think is right, I'll just go with it. I'll get on to finishing this page, and then adding the "Vanilla MC2" table.--Raven 2C (talk) 10:44, 23 August 2014 (PDT)
Well, I'm about as "new" as you, so you don't just have to do what I say. I'm working on ba -> BA and asf -> ASF in titles, then I will be able to get back to the MCG tables. -BobTheZombie (talk) 11:46, 23 August 2014 (PDT)
Thing is, I'm rather easily swayed by others' opinions, and I feel I offend by not taking into consideration or following the ideas of others. It's a problem I've been unable to get away from for a while.--Raven 2C (talk) 12:24, 23 August 2014 (PDT)
I would consider that a good thing, for the most part. Personally, I like to try to find the crux of what concerns all parties and to look for ways to accomplish as many as possible, if not all of them. I certainly appreciate both of you considering this idea. --Trifler (talk) 01:49, 24 August 2014 (PDT)
I'm more in favor of keeping everything compact and a bit more unified. There are also those "See Also:" sections for canon BT equipment articles that would link to here, and I don't exactly like the idea of having to add a separate link to every weapon with different game/mod stats for just one game. That's just my opinion, however.--Raven 2C (talk) 14:51, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
Now that you mention it, yes, it is best to keep them together as the links to it will go to one location on the page. I completely forgot about that for some reason... -BobTheZombie (talk) 15:28, 22 August 2014 (PDT)
I would actually think that the mod versions would come under fan created material so I would think it would either have no place on this wiki or require its own page, that is just me though.--Dmon (talk) 19:53, 25 August 2014 (PDT)
Well, yes it is a fan-made mod, so it may be just considered "non-canon"... I'll have to ask about this. MWLL is fan-made, but it is still on the wiki... -BobTheZombie (talk) 11:04, 26 August 2014 (PDT)
I admit I am not a fan of MWLL being here but I do understand why conidering that it has spread beyond the BT community and could very well lead people to us. But I feel we are taking a step beyond simply acknowledging that the mod exists by detailing specific stats and tables etc. This would mean that this fan mod would actually have more detail on here than some official stuff like the MechAssault games for example or the later MWDA sets. Just how I view it obviously others likely feel less strict about it --Dmon (talk) 20:27, 26 August 2014 (PDT)
I think that more major mods such as MWLL or MekTek should stay here as they are massive enough that they surpass the typical single person fanon. -BobTheZombie (talk) 15:29, 27 August 2014 (PDT)
