Settlement year[edit]

Conflict between Map and Old sourcebook. Handbook: Major Periphery States show the system in the 2571 map. The Periphery (sourcebook) states that the system was settled in 2581. I am torn between the two, do I follow the article or the map? Supposedly newer sources trump older ones, but the maps have been known to be erroneous at times.-Volt (talk) 05:52, 30 July 2014 (PDT)

This is definitely one for the Ask The Writer section; my first thought is that it being on the 2571 map is a mistake. However, in Historical: Reunification War a pair of worlds Granera and Saonara - are each described as being a "military staging post/depot that later became a colony." (p.148). Both show up on the 2577 map on page 94, but Granera is missing from the 2571 map in Handbook: Major Periphery States. Kossandra's Memory shows up on the 2577 map in H:RW, but is described in H:RW as being a military redoubt for the MAF and a base of ops for harrassing the SLDF. If I were looking for an explanation, given New Abilene's location in the Magistracy and that 2571 was on the eve of the Reunification War, I'd say that New Abilene was probably a MAF base in 2571, and didn't become a colony with a civilian population until 2581, and is on the 2571 map because it's a world of significance even if it's not a colony - just like Kossandra's Memory, only a few years earlier.
