Talk:Oberon Confederation

Updated the article with a collection of information that I could remember off hand. The part about escaping from clan captivity is taken from the MechWarrior: Mercenaries computer game which is canon as far as I can tell. The player gets to fight clan troops (don't remember exactly but I think either as a subcontractor to the Kell Hounds or alongside with them under direct contract to either House Steiner or the FRR) during an anti-piracy action (the Oberon Confederation is not mentioned), gets captured and manages a major prison break with a crew of fellow inmates (merc and pirate alike), fighting Clan 'Mechs in a hovercraft (!) and escaping. The pirate dropship resembles a Leopard, the JumpShip that was used (again, as far as I remember) was a mercenary ship, possibly of the Kell Hounds. The execution of the pirates in the FRR is mentioned in a later mission briefing. 84.187.245.36 03:43, 18 July 2007 (CDT) (That was me. Frabby 02:53, 8 August 2007 (CDT))

Oberon Confederation worlds?[edit]

I have had second thoughts about the list of OC worlds in the article, which I kept from the previous article when I rewrote it. In fact, Oberon, Sigurd and The Rock are the only clearly canonical OC worlds that I know of, although the OC must be rather big: It is always implied to be a large bandit kingdom/a middle-sized periphery state, and it more or less easily survived the breakaway of 7+ worlds (Butte Hold and the Valkyrate worlds). The other worlds (Crellacor, Drask's Den, etc.) are not found in any Atlas I have, and do not seem to have an entry in this wiki either. Ferris, on the other hand, is actually an OA world so either totally misplaced or there are two systems with the same name. Frabby 05:29, 25 March 2008 (CDT)

I have an atlas similar to this one that does have all of those on there. --Scaletail 18:52, 25 March 2008 (CDT)

Rework[edit]

Hey ROM operative, good work here as well! However, I think we need a standardized approach on describing factions (from the Star League to the Federatd Suns, the Taurus Concordat, the Oberon Confederation and Nueva Castilla right down to, say, Von Strang's World. You get the idea, all factions from the biggest to the smallest. May I suggest that a unified template for "factions" is introduced that gives the banner/logo, and all of that bold info as well as a year. In the case of some factions, a date of inception and/or termination would also be good to have. (I'd do this myself but unfortunately have no clue whatsoever how to create a template.) Let me see if I understood you correctly. You're propossing the creation of a small standart template which would appear in the right side of all "state-articles" (a Wikipedia standard). In it the more relvant info would be provided (the state banner + more or less the same stuff written in bold). Well this can be arranged. Tomorrow I will do it, OK? ROM operative 11:49, 16 April 2008 (CDT) You do know that this wiki lacks most of the banners of the Periphy realms?
Exactly. Unfortunately I have no experience with creating such template. As for banners, I could contribute a few myself and if you leave a blank space at first then they are bound to be inserted by somebody, sooner or later. As for the content of such a Factions template, I would suggest (from top down): Name, Banner, classification (i.e. successor state, minor periphery power, bandit kingdom, etc.), rough indication of location, Timeframe of existence, approximate size (timeframe), Capital world, Political system/Ruler title, Ruler(s) (timeframe), Technology level, Literacy level. I'll work on it when I have time. In the meantime, use Federated Suns and Draconis Combine as guides. --Scaletail 08:51, 17 April 2008 (CDT)
