Talk:Sniper Artillery Piece

Standard Rounds[edit]

I've updated the article for the Tactical Operation rules. I do own the book for Tactical Operations, however I'm confused on if the new "standard" ammunition for Sniper is High Explosive arounds which do 20/10 damage or the Cluster Rounds which do 15/5. Confusion stemps from the book itself where in listing for Cluster rounds says its standard round for the tube Artillery. Where you see in the template lists for the damage/area effect sectio for artillery that high explosive is the "standard" artillery ammunition. Can someone clearify this for me so i can properly update this and other articles? -- Wrangler 19:58, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

If it's the same as in past books, the first number is for any unit in the target hex, while the second applies to units in adjacent hexes. --Scaletail 00:20, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
"Standard" is used in BattleTech as the munition introduced with the weapon originally, so Standard Ammo for Artillery would be the Area Affect Munition while Cluster Ammo is a specialized Variant ammo.--Cameron 16:05, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, it looks like do in deed do more damange than they used. I'll have to look to revise other listing for damages. Though if someone else like to do it, please feel free to. -- Wrangler 13:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
odd, 20 impact 10 adjacent was the damage for the Long Tom and the Arrow IV. Check the Eratta or ask over on the Ask the PM Board on ClassicBattleTech.com, while it is possible that they mirred the way that different 155 mm artillery could have similar damage but differing ranges, it is more likely that this is another bug... If i remember i will check tonite in my TacOps PDF.--Cameron 16:32, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Rules Revision[edit]

Artillery Pieces were Level 2 Rules but they were never Tournament Legal. Many level 2 Rules (Fire, Artillery, Mines, etc) were Level 2 (Advanced / Special Case / Optional) Rules that were not considered Legal for Official Games and/or Tournaments run by MechForce or FASA Directly. (I am unsure if Artillery were ever even given a Combat Value for use in the Ranked Battles system.) The Major Change with the current Core rules is that the Standard Game Play Book (more) exactly matches the Tournament Legal Rules.--Cameron 16:05, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
