Really "The" Iowa?[edit]

I don't have the source material concerned, is that really its name? Feels very odd. Ships are normally referred to as "the [name]", but for the definitive article to actually be part of the name? I mean, it's not the U.S.S. The Enterprise...121.99.60.113 02:18, 27 September 2013 (PDT)

That's exactly how it's presented in the source material:
Command Trinary (The Jaguars' Den)
Star Captain Hilary Bowen

Alpha, Bravo and Charlie Command Stars (5 OmniMechs each)
Delta and Echo Command Stars (5 Elemental Points each)
Gamme and Omega Command Stars (10 fighters each)
Naval Complement
WarShips: Streaking Mist (Black Lion), FireCrest (Congress), The Iowa, Sabre Cat (Essex)

  — Invading Clans, p. 70, "Front Line Unit Summary"
So, that's how it's presented here. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 03:26, 27 September 2013 (PDT)
How unusual.121.99.60.113 03:59, 27 September 2013 (PDT)
Possibly a mistake on the part of the author, but The Iowa doesn't appear in any of the other sourcebooks I've checked so far, so Invading Clans may be the only text to actually mention the ship. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 04:16, 27 September 2013 (PDT)
That was my thoughts on the matter, since a lot of those listings are one-off references. Still, if that's what's written, that's what's written, right?121.99.60.113 04:26, 27 September 2013 (PDT)

Alpha Galaxy[edit]

This article stated that The Iowa "was probably transferred to Alpha Galaxy" with a citation to Shadows of War. I've checked the source and it doesn't support that assertion, except to the extent that the ship didn't accompany the Streaking Mist and the rest of the Jaguar's Den to Huntress. I've therefore deleted what seems to be an unsupported bit of speculation, replacing it with the undisputed facts.

However, the article for Alpha Galaxy lists The Iowa as that unit's sole naval asset. There's no specific reference on that section, and I don't have the sourcebooks listed in the article's bibliography, so I can't check, but perhaps there's more definite support for the claim. If another editor can substantiate the vessel's transfer with a proper reference, that claim should be restored to this article. Tosta Dojen (talk) 13:03, 19 August 2020 (EDT)
