Talk:Weapons and Equipment Lists

Why do the equipment lists use the abandoned "Level" system instead of the current tournament/advanced rules levels?— The preceding unsigned comment was posted by 173.168.115.68 (talkcontribs) 05:37, 9 September 2009.

I think it is a simple case of nobody has done it yet. --Dmon 11:00, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
I plan to get started on this when i get home form work. Current Collumn renamed to "Numbered Rules Level", Add Collumn for Reference (wiki link for Book and Page), add collumn for "Named Rules Level", add collumn for reference (wiki link for Book and page). Any objections/Comments?--Cameron 17:30, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Fine by me. Columns can be good. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 18:19, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Plasma weapons missing[edit]

Hello, I noticed that the IS Plasma_Rifle and the Clan Plasma_Cannon were missing from that list. As I'm not familiar with the editing, I just wanted to give a heads-up, so an apt user might make the edit. Great work, btw.! --93.182.147.139 08:19, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment. I'm not a weapons expert (in CBT, anyhow), so can't add to it myself. Feel free to take a crack at it and I'll be glad to fix what ever problems you might have with the code. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 17:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
what is the proper classification for ammo based energy weapons? Ballistic or Energy?--Cameron 17:51, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Wrapping Ext Range Collumn[edit]

How do we fix the Extreme Range collumn wrapping the data... freeing up space by abreviating rules leve not working...--Cameron 18:39, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

When citing a reference[edit]

For the Weapons and such that occour twice (or more, q.v. artillery) in a rule book, should we use the Page that a Paragraph Entry is on, the Table Entry is on, that it is cited in a specific rule (too complex this last), or both. Am currently citing to the rule book in general, not the best result.--Cameron 13:30, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand your statement "the Table Entry is on, that it is cited in a specific rule (too complex this last)".
For this particular page I just use the tables in the back of the book. For Active Probes listed in the Tactical Operations book, I'd refer to pages 404-405, as they contain the critical information (range, weight, space) as well as a page listing for more information in the Ref column.
For pages dedicated to the item (like Bloodhound Active Probe) I use the standard reference method. Does that help?--Mbear 14:53, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Not really... Given that a piece of equipment is published in three places in a given rule book, (in order of preference)(1) The Equipment Section where the Stats & Rules for the Equipment is published (2) the Tables Section where the raw stats are published, (3) Any additional rules that specificly reference the piece of equipment. I am trying to determine which of the three kinds of pages i should use as the page referenced on this table. I prefer using the Page Reference for the equipment detail rather than the tables because this table more or less replaces the table in the book, but would serve to tell someone looking for the canon info where to find each specific iteration of the rules for a particular piece of equipment. What would be your preference? --Cameron 19:48, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
You should cite wherever the information came from. If that's in multiple places within the same book, so be it. --Scaletail 23:59, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
The Table already has too many cell wraps (any being too many), if the references increased from 1 to the entire book to circa 3 to each book that would increase the wraps, intention is to shorten the lines below by having the references to each page. Given that the information is given in the article section and reproduced in the tables and modified in specific rules, i would prefer using the reference to the weapons article.--Cameron 13:49, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
What about creating multiple reference IDs for each citation? I understand that a given page can be cited 63 times in this article. What about cutting off a specific citation at the point where the reference become two lines and creating a new one for the same book/page combination? This would solve the problem of multiple-line citations in the "References" section. --Scaletail 16:56, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

largest number[edit]

An alternate method of making the table work again without wrapping is to change the ranges to only listing the largest number in the band, i am reluctant to do this since it breaks with the currently published tables.--Cameron 13:49, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Extended LRM (ELRM) Extreme Range values[edit]

Extreme Range values were set at 39-57. According to "Extreme Range" computation rules from Tactical Operations page 85, this wasn't correct. I changed the Extreme Range values to be 39-44 per the TacOps Extreme Range rules. The rule says extreme range starts at one hex beyond long range (39) and ends at maximum medium range*2 (22*2=44) --Mbear 16:50, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

ok I had seen it as Extreme Range = Medium Range * 2 and AeroTech 2 Revised as Long Range * 1.5 and I had though that i saw it as LR*1.5 in TW/TM... the newer books havnt set in yet so looks like ill have to go back and study... --Cameron 17:39, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Year introduced[edit]

Would it be okay to add a year introduced column to these tables?— The preceding unsigned comment was posted by 141.219.56.107 (talkcontribs) .

Hm, i say no at this time, we have the Category:Technology main page with all weapons and equipments on this ass posible and some main pages have the introduction year on it, but can you explain why you need this on the WaE list?--Doneve (talk) 12:24, 13 June 2016 (PDT)
Well, there does not really exist a way to get that information without having to scrounge around for it. So for example the Large X-Pulse Laser would not be available during the start of the clan invasion. But a federated commonwealth special forces team might have access to a prototype of it by 3055. To know what is available at any given time period requires checking every single equipment, which is tedious. It seemed like a logical extension to include at least some general Era info because the table includes other stats as well as two different rules level columns. 141.219.56.107 10:21, 30 June 2016 (PDT)
I really think that it should, frankly. It would help a lot and as you said, there isn't any other place where there's a full list of them. Go ahead with it if you want Anonymous Guy -BobTheZombie (talk) 12:53, 30 June 2016 (PDT)
