The Taurian Volunteer Guards were units of the Taurian Defense Force which existed prior to and during the Reunification War. Forming an integral part of the Concordat's defense strategy during the war, the Volunteer Guards were composed of retired TDF veterans and local recruits, with equipped supplied by local sources. While initially regarded as effective fighting force, the Volunteer Guards underwent a rapid expansion in the years building up to the Reunification War, which created a greater disparity in training. Nevertheless these units fought hard during the war, though most would be wiped out by the conflict's end.[1]
