Add real-life counterpart?[edit]

Believe it or not, I drew up some paper notes about re-doing the systems over a year ago. One item on my notes was my suggestion to add a wikilink to the real-world counterpart to BT systems. A good share of systems have their name taken from (or inspired by) a real star system. Frabby 17:25, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Very good idea, i agree to, see the Pleiades Cluster page, updated by Harry.--Doneve 17:36, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Star names or Sun names?[edit]

Suggest to change "Star names" into "Sun(s)" for clarity, because the term Star also refers to a visible dot of light and is synonymous with "Star system" more than with "Sun". This is an important difference for multi-sun systems (which are frequently referred to as a single star despite having several suns). Frabby 05:52, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

I may be working from an American-centric perspective (though I don't think I am), so please forgive me if I am, but stars are stars. That's the default description of that burning ball of gas at the center of a system (not trying to be flippant). A person planet-side may refer to the dominant star in the day sky as a 'sun', but from a from an academic standpoint, we're not looking 'up' from the article's planet, but looking down over the Inner Sphere (and local neighborhood). From that perspective, even the Terran system has a 'star', vice a 'sun'.
I agree: in the novels, as Grayson Death maneuvers his 'Mech out of the jungle, he can see Verthandi's sun (not star) emerge from behind the rainclouds. But, as his JumpShip emerges from hyperspace, the star Norn will be the most visible object in their presence. Kerensky choose the second star to the right left and jumped 'til morning (with apologies to J. M. Barrie) and the Hanseatic League is made up of 29 star systems.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 12:20, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay, it may be a language thing (not a native speaker). I'll take your word on it then that Star is the accurate term. :) Frabby 13:25, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Infobox Code failur[edit]

Hy, when i use the infobox system templ., i beacome a infoboxproduction template, can anyone take a look and fix this problem, thanks.--Doneve 00:34, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

the InfoBoxSystem/doc documentaion was apparently copied over from InfoBoxProduct, and contained the wrong Infobox toggle in the header. I have corrected this and adjusted some of the descriptions. I'll also go ahead and include an optional name field in the system infobox (useful for cases where multiple systems share a name, or where a given system is/was known under different names).
