Description

Commissioned as part of the Xin Sheng revitalization effort by Sun Tzu Liao, the Ti Ts'ang is a heavy 'Mech that is designed with a clearly Chinese-influenced aesthetic. The 'Mech also incorporates a great deal of advanced technologies, both to save weight and make the Ti Ts'ang as deadly as possible. The 'Mech is powered by a lightweight Hermes 360 XL Engine which provides a maximum speed of 97.2 km/h. The Ti Ts'ang augments this speed with triple strength myomer which allows the 'Mech to move at speeds of up to 118.8 km/h under the correct conditions. The Ti Ts'ang saves weight for a heavier weapons payload through the use of a SL Special Endo Steel chassis that weighs half as much as a standard internal structure. For protection from enemy fire, the Ti Ts'ang has twelve and a half tons of Durallex Heavy armor giving it almost the maximum amount of armor protection a 'Mech of its size can carry.[1]

Armament

Built exclusively for medium to short range combat, the Ti Ts'ang carries a devastating array of five Diverse Optics Type ER Medium Lasers backed up by four Diverse Optics Type ER Small Lasers as its only ranged weapons. The 'Mech's most fearsome weapon is its Hatchet, which is capable of cleaving into an enemy's 'Mech and when the triple strength myomer is active it is capable of slicing through armor like a hot knife through butter. Additionally, the Ti Ts'ang has an Apple Churchill 442x TAG laser designator that allows the 'Mech to call in highly accurate missile or artillery strikes.[1]

Variants

  • TSG-9J
The 9J variant of the Ti Ts'ang is built with long range combat in mind. In order to allow the 'Mech to defend itself, the TAG laser as well as two ER Medium Lasers, two ER Small Lasers, and a double heat sink have been removed to make room for an ER Large Laser, allowing the Ti Ts'ang to defend itself at long ranges. BV (1.0) = 1,464[3][6], BV (2.0) = 1,870[7]
  • TSG-9C
The 9C variant was introduced during the Jihad and carried the least amount of weapons in comparison to the previous variants of the Ti Ts'ang. Aside from its Hatchet, the 'Mech has been fitted with a Plasma Rifle in left arm with 2 tons of ammo. For secondary weaponry, the it has 2 ER Medium Lasers & ER Small Lasers scatted about the 'Mechs torso and head. BV (2.0) = 1,950[8]

Custom Variants

  • TSG-9H Ti Ts'ang Jason
Used by Jason Zaklan of the Death Commandos, this Ti Ts'ang trades the TAG system for an ER Medium Laser. The standard ER lasers have been removed and replaced by four Small Pulse Lasers and three Medium Pulse Lasers. In addition the 'Mech only carries ten double heat sinks. This would be a danger on the battlefield, but is perfect for Zaklan's assignment: Monitoring the arena fighting on Solaris. BV (2.0) = 1,602[13]

Design Quirks

The TSG-9DDC Ti Ts'ang variant is subject of the following Design Quirks:[10]
