Formation
The VIII Hastati Sentinels (also known as the Eighth Hastati) spearheaded the assault of New Canton. Though they lost three commanders, they eventually took the planet. Shortly thereafter they led the assault on Gan Singh where they again took serious losses. The Eighth has developed a reputation for doing more with less, which means that in 3085 they were the weakest unit in the Hastati Sentinels. Their high experience, however, offsets this disadvantage.[1]
In 3085 the VIII Hastati is stationed on Second Try in Prefecture VI of the Republic of the Sphere.[2]

As of 3085 the commanding officer was Brigadier General Bridget O’Hanlon.[2]
