History
Formation
The VIII Triarii Protectors (also known as the Eighth Triarii), are the garrison unit for Prefecture VIII. In 3085 the unit was stationed to Denebola in an effort to run down any Word of Blake holdouts who might be hiding on the world.[1]
In 3085 the VIII Triarii was stationed on Denebola in Prefecture VIII of the Republic of the Sphere.[2]
The Eighth spent most of their time on Denebola in a quiet garrison post. They only moved to the Republic's border with the Capellan Confederation and Oriente Protectorate after the Blackout. They garrisoned Suzano and stopped their opponents from taking the world during the Capellan Crusades. They lacked the manpower to pursue the attackers though. When the order to execute Fortress Republic was issued, the Eighth refused to return. Instead they chose to remain on Suzano. After Fortress Republic was executed, the VIII Triarii Protectors remained on Suzano until 3143 when it became clear the Capellan Confederation was determined to take the system. At that point they joined the Republic Remnant outside the walls. Before they left, though, Colonel Oisin Fegan negotiated with the Confederation to have Suzano enter the Confederation. This spared the population a fight on their world.[3][4]
They were the garrison of Alhena in 3145.[5]
Officers
As of 3085 the commanding officer was Colonel Steven Holt.[2]
The Eighth was commanded by Colonel Oisin Fegan in 3145.[3][5]
