Admiral Vicho Nnamani was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 8th Fleet from 2755 until his death in 2772.[1][2]

History[edit]

Early Career[edit]

A graduate of Annapolis Naval Academy, Nnamani was promoted to lead 8th Fleet in 2755, taking as his flagship the SLS Quéribus. A believer in speed over firepower, he ensured his Fleet's readiness was always top-flight, constantly improving their Jump timetables.

By 2764 due to increased pirate attacks in his area of operations within the Lyran Commonwealth, Nnamani did however moderate this stance somewhat, unsuccessfully requesting command assign more heavier WarShips to his command.[1][3]

New Vandenberg Uprising[edit]

Nnamani's focus on readiness and speed paid dividends during the New Vandenberg Uprising, when the 8th was able to quickly deploy to the Magistracy of Canopus, long before the less organized 7th Fleet under Admiral Salman Venizelos. After conducting successful operations in the spinwards systems of the Magistracy which severely limited Magistracy Armed Forces activity, a friendly rivalry arose between Nnamani and Venizelos, who Nnamani liked to refer to as "The Late Admiral Venizelos".[3]

Amaris Civil War[edit]

During the Amaris Civil War, Nnamani led elements of both the 8th and 13th Fleets as a combined taskforce to assault Lone Star in July 2772, against a full-scale Space Defense System controlled by the Amaris Empire.[2]

During this ultimately successful but costly campaign, Nnamani died when the SLS Quéribus was destroyed during the final battles near the world of Lone Star itself, against M-5 "Caspar" Capital Drone Ships. His remaining forces however, under Vice Admiral Noeki Giersson, were able to rally and achieve the victory Nnamani had sought.[2]
