The Vixen system was home to at least one habitable world, Vixen V, and as at 3145 an independent system located in the Periphery close to the border of the Magistracy of Canopus.[2][3]

System Description

The Vixen system is located near the Mondra and Zelmag III systems[4][5] and consists of a class G3 primary orbited by at least five planets. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the zenith jump point.[1]

System History

The Vixen system was either settled during the Star League era at some point after the end of the Reunification War or was an already-settled system that became significant enough during this era for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording its location on maps.[6][5]

Vixen V

Vixen V - more commonly known simply as Vixen - is the fifth planet in the Vixen system.

Planetary History

Although Vixen was inhabited during the Star League era[4][5] it was evidently depopulated during the Succession Wars. Thirty-first century sources reported that Vixen was first colonized in the mid-3020's by a small consortium of Canopian corporations. Their goal was to create a resort world like the ones that existed prior to the Succession Wars. To that end they used the cool weather and natural terrain to create a winter sports haven. Ice hockey, cross country and downhill skiing, bobsledding, and curling are just a few of the attractions available. For those who prefer more confrontational excursions, Vixen offers hunting trips that focus on the local fauna. Since it's a purely recreational world, Vixen relies on distance from trade routes and isolation for its defense instead of military forces.[1]

Post Jihad Era

The Magistracy Cavaliers were allowed to return to their traditional homeworld of Thraxa after the Jihad, as a reward for their loyalty to the Magestrix; having returned home, the Cavaliers also undertook to provide security for Vixen, with two battalions residing on Thraxa and a third on Vixen. After their return, the Cavaliers faced a constant stream of raids in force from III Legio of the Marian Hegemony as well as raiders from former Free Worlds League worlds and the nearby world of Astrokaszy.[7]
