Planetary History

The Dark Age

During the invasion of the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth and the establishment of the Wolf Empire by Clan Wolf, the defenders on worlds such as Autumn Wind made very effective use of Xiphos assault battle armor to frustrate the Clan Wolf force and slow the invasion; the defenders transported the suits using Cavalry VTOLs, dropping the battle armor squads a few hundred meters behind the Wolf front lines. The Xiphos squads then inflicted havoc on the artillery units supporting the Wolf forces; as the Xiphos was equipped with Reactive Armor, the stereotypical Wolf response - to shell the Xiphos squads with those same artillery pieces - was largely ineffective.[31]

By the time Clan Wolf invaded Washburn they had grown wise to this tactic; the defenders on Washburn attempted to replicate the efforts of those on Autumn Wind and elsewhere, but discovered that the Wolf forces had placed dozens of battle armored troops of their own behind their artillery, and equipped them with lasers and Inferno weaponry specifically to counter the Reactive Armor of the Xiphos. As a consequence the Xiphos squads were cut down; the only surviving Xiphos troopers were those who hadn't been sent to the front line, and who subsequently made their last stand alongside the defending forces at the Irian Technologies plant.[31]

Geography

Washburn has three continents named Floy, Kearny and Schile.[1]

Planetary Locations

  • New Chicago: The planetary capital city, located on Floy.[1]
  • Schile Highlands: The location of the Irian Technologies facilities on Schile.[1]
