Description

A light rugged and dependable design the Wolfhound made its first appearance in 3028. The 'Mech is built to be a direct counter to the Panther used by the Draconis Combine. The 'Mech is built using all energy weapons and if not piloted properly can be run hot by a poorly trained 'Mechwarrior. The 'Mech does use double heat sinks to attempt to alleviate the heat buildup of the 'Mech. The Wolfhound is armored with seven and a half tons of armor, which is heavy for a 'Mech of its size and has a maximum speed of 97.2 kph. Because it does not use an XL engine and has no ammunition that can explode the Wolfhound can take incredibly large amounts of damage for a 'Mech of its size before being forced to retreat off of the field.

Armament

The Wolfhound has a very basic weapons array. The primary long-range weapon on board is a Cyclops XII ER Large Laser, which allows the Wolfhound to strake at ranges of up to five hundred and seventy meters. As secondary weapons for close combat the Wolfhound is armed with four Defiance B3M Medium Lasers, one of which is rear mounted, giving it a powerful short-range punch.

Variants

  • WLF-1 - An early variant of the Wolfhound this version is almost completely identical to the WLF-2 variant with some minor exceptions. The 'Mechs primary weapon is a standard Large Laser making its striking distance shorter then that of the WLF-2 and the 'Mech uses standard heat sinks which do not dissipate as much waste heat as the newer double heat sinks used on the WLF-2. BV (1.0) = 736
  • WLF-3S - The 3S sacrifices some of the 'Mechs durability for an increase in firepower. The 'Mech is powered by a Light Fusion Engine which frees up space on the chassis for new equipment. The ER Large Laser has been removed and replaced with a ER PPC extending its range even further and the Medium Lasers have been replaced with three forward facing ER Medium Lasers and a rear facing ER Small Laser. Finally the chassis is now built using Endo Steel and the 'Mech has two additional double heat sinks to help handle the heavier heat burden. BV (1.0) = 944
  • Wolfhound IIC - The Wolfhound was captured by the forces of Clan Wolf during the invasion along with Phelan Kell. When Phelan was inducted into the Wolf Clan his 'Mech was rebuilt using claim technology. BV (1.0) = 1473
