History[edit]

Woodrow Ethan Allen was a Lyran citizen who was known as "Woody" Allen for the first seventeen years of his life. Unwilling to continue the trend in adulthood, he applied for admission to the Nagelring Academy, using his middle name on all formal occasions. Despite performing well and graduating, after a single tour of duty in the LCAF as an enlisted man it became evident that without family ties he would not advance as far as he wished. Departing from the LCAF, he joined the mercenary unit Jureck's Jaegers. The Jaegers commander discovered a lostech cache on Risin in 3035, which resulted in a raid by the Blades of Death. After defeating the Jaegers they executed the officers and pressed the others into slavery. Allen remained a slave to the Blades for many years before being sold to the Marian Hegemony on Islington. In 3039, forces of the Magistracy of Canopus raided Islington, which Allen and other slaves used as an opportunity to revolt. Though most were killed, Allen and 27 other slaves won their freedom and stole four Hegemony BattleMechs. After pooling what resources they could manage, and with a little help from the Magistracy, the Green Mountain Boys were formed later that year.[1][3]

The first contract Allen took was with Baron Archibald Keeling of Ruschegg. After discovering the Baron's cruel streak, however, Allen quit. Baron Keeling carried a grudge, and decades later still intended to destroy Allen and the Green Mountain Boys.[4]

Allen continued to command the Boys through at least 3071, seeing it grow from a lance to a reinforced battalion. Primarily a mix of light and medium ’Mechs, they became experts in highly mobile tactics[5][6][3]

He was a seasoned leader that wanted to expand the conventional forces of the unit when finances would allow it.

BattleMechs[edit]

Allen piloted a Pillager, which is depicted on the unit's insignia smashing a symbol of the Hegemony.[1]
