History
In 3145 the Fourteenth Triarii Protectors were the newest command within the Triarii Protectors brigade, and its personnel included some of the rawest recruits to be found anywhere in the Republic Armed Forces.[1] The Fourteenth's garrison posting on Caph[2] gave it access to supplies from the defense manufacturing plants of Skobel MechWorks and Martinson Armaments, and the Fourteenth was soon considered to be the best-equipped unit in the brigade. The quality of the equipment couldn't compensate for the rawness of the recruits, however; in just a single month - June of 3144 - the Fourteenth suffered half a dozen casualties due to accidents in training.[1]
Despite the efforts being made by the Fourteenth's commanding officer, Colonel Kyuichi Iida, and the rest of his command staff to ensure the safety of the Fourteenth's personnel it was rumoured in 3145 that the Republic High Command was losing patience with the Fourteenth's failings and was considering having him replaced.[1]
