Sir Yuri Mashnovska was a MechWarrior, and Knight of the Republic of the Sphere, during the Dark Age Era.[1]

History[edit]
Early Life[edit]
Mashnovska was born on St. Ives in 3080, to Capellan parents, including a father who was a MechWarrior in the Second St. Ives Lancers. His parents however defected from the Capellan Confederation to the Republic of the Sphere while he was a child, taking a family BattleMech his father had used in the Lancers with him, and selling it in exchange for Republic citizenship. Despite suffering from discrimination growing up in the Republic for his Capellan identity, Mashnovska managed to enlist in the Republic Militia, with aptitude scores showing he would make an excellent MechWarrior.[1]
Alrescha[edit]
While stationed on Alrescha with the Republic Militia, Mashnovska was confronted with pro-Capellan activists who had obtained a Trebuchet BattleMech painted in the colors of the Knights of the Sphere, which was marauding through the city of Chiang-lo as part of a false flag terrorist attack. Engaging the 'Mech in his much lighter Commando, despite believing it to be piloted by an elite yet rogue Knight, Mashnovska managed to hold his ground and eventually disable it.
Attacked by pro-Capellan civilians who believed Mashnovska was in league with the supposed rogue Knight, Mashnovska succeeded in capturing the enemy MechWarrior, before backing off to avoid civilian casualties. Subsequently, after Mashnovska was able to prove the false false nature of the incident, he was acclaimed as a hero and inducted into the Knights himself. As a Knight Mashnovska was loyal and idealistic, trusting his heart over any regulations when discerning right from wrong, sometimes to the disquiet of his superiors.[1]
As of 3133, Mashnovska was a member of Sword Lance, under the command of Sir Anthanassios Raptis. His other Lancemates were Skariah Paragon and Inese Lassonde.[2]
BattleMech[edit]
Mashnovska was known to have initially piloted a Commando BattleMech. Subsequently as a Knight, he instead piloted a Black Knight, serial number FW193-33D. Built for the Free Worlds League, this Black Knight served with the Knights of the Inner Sphere, before being gifted to the Republic after the Word of Blake Jihad. In honor of this history, Mashnovska nicknamed his Black Knight "Sir Master", after the original Knights' commanding officer Paul Masters.[1]
