I only played the turn-by-turn RL computer game (which had technical readout flash cards) and it's been years but...wasn't the RL Martiobarbulus supposed to be ineffective? Thin skinned and poorly armed? Your AT2 design is slow, but quite effective looking.

Not according to the info in the fighter briefing part of the Interceptor rule book on TOG fighters...

Armor in RL terms is as follows:
60
50
50
60

Shields:
50
30
30
40

I ignored the shield since BT has nothing like them and tried to modle the armor as it was.

Aren't those really thin shields? Or are the super-fighters I built with the slightly broken video game's fighter designer skewing my judgement?

Please, recheck the number of DHS.

The video game is messed up...these are average shields...

For this--and far be it from me to tell someone to make an alpha boat--I'd say your weapons config really does lend itself to long-range Alpha-ing. Despite that, however, you'll be lucky if you *ever* have a chance to fire more than 1 ERLL a turn (unless the GRs and LRMs run out of ammo). With that in mind:
You could swap each ERLL pair for an ER PPC, and put the savings (6 tons) into DHS. That would let you fire your GRs, LRMs, and 1 PPC until your LRM ammo runs out (6 turns), then fire everything every turn.
I still wouldn't particularly like it, but I feel that's an improvement--though either version would be fearsome indeed on any *one* turn!
Alternatively, drop two ER LLs and replace them with 9 DHS and 1t armor. That way you *can* alpha every turn, and your armor goes up a bit. That last 1t can also go towards a ML, another DHS (alpha and overthrust), or anything else your heart desires.

For a larger change, you can change it into a layered-range loadout:
Drop 1x LRM-20 and all four ER LLs, replace with 2x ER PPC and Artemis IV for the LRM. Then, add 9 DHS and 6 MLs. You can fire both GRs, an LRM-20A4, and 2 ER PPCs at long and medium range (for 38 heat, perfect), or all 6 MLs, 2 GRs, the LRM-20, and 1 ER PPC at short range (for 41 heat, nearly perfect). Or don't fire an ML and stay at 38.

Actually, I'm surprised how well that works out...and it makes for a *fearsome* hitter. In fact, your total damage would then be:

Long and medium range: 66pts
Short range: 86 (or 81 for 0 net heat).
