--- The White Tiger-Class was a series of four Heavy Cruisers, the first of which was laid down in 2602. This class was designed to make use of both the engines AND the K-F Drives of the Dreadnought-Class Battleships which were slated for retirement that year, and as such would be a cost-effective way of strengthening the Star League Navy. The total savings was estimated to be something around 3 billion C-Bills per vessel, with all three of the surviving Dreadnoughts having their components donated, while the drive and K-F drive of a fourth Dreadnought-Class came from one that was scrapped due to engineering problems.

--- While somewhat slow, the White Tiger-Class was certainly no slouch, this vessel was armed to the teeth. A compliment of six DropShips, forty AeroSpace FIghters and eight Small Craft were further augmented by a half dozen NAC/35s in twin turret mounts and a fearsome broadside of twenty Light NPPCs split evenly between two bays... PER FACING. All of this was even further supported by a total of eighty NL/35s, mounted in bays of two, as well as an additional Nose facing bay containing a single NAC/40 and a single NAC/30.

--- The designation of this ship was a matter of some consternation and more than a little contention, but eventually it was settled on to designate this vessel as a Heavy Cruiser. Unorthodox in the highest, the White Tiger-Class had the firepower of a Battlecruiser, the armor and speed of a Heavy Cruiser, and roughly half of a Carrier's worth of AeroSpace fighters. Her fuel, comestibles, and spare part allotment, alongside her modest Cargo Bays and ample Docking Collars gave her damn good legs, while forty-eight Second Class passenger bays enabled her to carry a single rotation of spare pilots for high-tempo operations.

--- Her marine compliment is defensively orientated, consisting of ninety-six foot personnel and twenty four individual Battle Armor units. These are organized as two extended platoons, with the foot units organized in the typical manner of three "line" squads and one support weapon team, but augmented by having each "line" squad supported by a squad of Battle Armor units. On top of this, the White Tiger-Class furnishes two additional bays, each dedicated to the carriage of additional foot infantry and Battle Armor. Each of these bays furnishes a platoon of foot infantry and a squad of Battle Armor, support by a thirty ton Cargo Bay for whatever support equipment / miscellaneous stores they may require.

--- In terms of role, the White Tiger-Class is something of a "design by committee" affair, although unlike most other such affairs, the White Tiger-Class doesn't suffer the usual drawbacks associated with this. The class furnishes a robust and flexible payload, and was designed as a force multiplier for other ships in the Star League Navy. Having such a small production run of just four ships, however, has led to the design becoming extinct. The fates of these ships are unknown, as they were so obscure even at the time of their introduction.

DESIGNER'S BLURB:

--- I was bored (again) and decided to build a WarShip to alleviate this. I started with trying to design a FedComm Civil War era ship for the Davion's, a small, fast BattleCruiser with hard hitting NACs, Naval Gauss and RACs for anti-ASF work. This, uh, CLEARLY didn't pan out as intended, and I (somehow) ended up designing a ship that would make use of leftover parts from the old Dreadnought-Class Battleships of the Terran Hedgemony. I picked the name White Tiger on account of the old Black Lion I-Class ships which made heavy use of parts found on the old Dreadnought-Class ships, being a kind of "inverted" name. I also named it on account of it's rarity, which mirrors the rarity of the real life White Bengal Tigers.

--- All told, the cost of this ship comes out to 4,615,888,000 per ship, or 18,463,552,000 for four of them, which is pretty damn good when you consider how much the re-used drives would expedite the construction process. The ship is damn well armed, and with the NL/35s spread across so many weapon bays, this thing kills AeroSpace Fighters by the squadron. It ended up being as really flexible, jack-of-all trades ship that I felt really fit with idea of a limited run class whose primary role was to recycle old kit into something useful. I like it, but as always, feedback is welcome and encouraged.

My nitpick would be the NACs: only the NAC30 has sufficient range for orbital bombardment. The others are powerful ship killers but don't have enough range to get through the atmosphere.
