2 Large Pulse Lasers
2 ATM-6s
Manufacturer: Unknown
Primary Factory: Talon
Communications System: Tek BattleCom with Guardian ECM Suite
Targeting and Tracking System: Starlight LX-1

Overview:
Build me a better Maruder. Sounds like a simple idea, take one of
the famous battlemech designs and give it a complete overhaul, while
maintaining the look and toughness of the orginal. In application the
actual production was a test of JMY's manufacturing yard and supply
depot.

Nine different variants at varying tonnages were created, of the
nine, only this design ever saw finalized production. Starting with
the distinctive look, the design lost its LRM racks, each being
replaced by a longer reaching, harder punching ATM series; loaded
with a decent amount of ER rounds, allowing the loss in swarm factor
that the LRMs allowed, to be replaced by a more accurate and deadly
ER's.

The cockpit was also moved, being placed within the armoring of
the center torso itself, the head section gaining much needed ECM
hardware. Armoring the rebuild is roughly 12 tons of Starslab Ferro,
while differing in tonnage of the earlier model, this type was chosen
for durability and space concerns.

Internally the 'mech also received a engine and heat sink
upgrade; compact 'sinks being used to generate a 4 point higher heat
curve then the 'mech generates, allowing the delicate systems to
remain balanced in high thermal situations. giving the mech 'Punch'
capacity are a pair of LB-X ac2's with a generous amount of both Slug
and Cluster rounds to allow a 'warrior the ability to choose based on
the combat situation. Underslung within the same tublar arms that
make this design infamous are Pulse lasers, large; giving the 'mech a
dangerous firepower rate at almost any range.

Oppoents of the design state that its overall damage capacity is
reduced from the 'one shot one kill' tendacy of the orginal, stating
that the design has lost some of its infamy. Supporters of the design
list both its extended heat capacty, weapons reach and the advanced
systems now included in the design, calling it the 'Morningstar' as
it can reach out and punch holes through many battlemechs at extreame
ranges, accurately.

Against the design again are its low speed factor, common to many
assault mechs and the compact gyro has been known to overstress under
air drops or during a sudden and hard heat spike though the
occurances of this are rare. Some also claim that though carrying
dual AC ammunition does allow selective firing the rather low damage,
long range, potential of the /2 variant is a hard sell among those
who are used to the orginals massive damage capacity.

Favoring the build are both the ATM racks, giving the mech the
abilty to pepper mobile targets and structures, and the high
damage/ROF of its large clan issue pulse lasers that allow it to
operate on extended range missons and the extensive use of compact
heat sinks, a JMY signature, allow it a generous and stable heat
curve.

Capabilities:
Assault, long to medium range combat.

Deployment:
800 units have been thus far put into production, roughly a 3rd
of these have been bought by house Steiner, the rest have either gone
to JMY affiliated merc groups or the DCMS.

Battle History:
Live combat trials, Solaris7, Talon III Mech Combat and Testing
Arena (MCTA).
