The Tulip is Crossroad's native light, extremely fast Omnimech that's usually used as a scout in its various configurations. The prototype (whose refined version is known as simply the Mk.Ia) was developed in response to a contract for a light and mobile missile platform, when the decision was made to replace aging light mech assets with the Tulip Chassis. Instead of using several modifications, the decision was made to simply redesign the Tulip prototype into an omnimech.
All weight-saving measures are employed to achieve the Tulip's top speed, including an Endo-Steel structure, Ferro-Fibrous armor, an XL Gyro, and a rather uncomfortably cramped small cockpit. This is used to provide eight jump jets and a partial wing which gives the Tulip an incredible jump capacity of 300 meters. All omnivariants of the Tulip are augmented by an arm-mounted AES to increase the effectiveness of what little tonnage is left for weapons.
The Tulip has had little live fire testing but military experts believe that it will prove to be a significant force on the battlefield for light battle groups.
