Overview:
The Republic of the Sphere's disarmament campaign left many battlemech
manufacturers and their supplyers in disarray. Though there was a burgeoning
market for civilian mech applications, demand for milspec parts crashed.
Attempts to pick up the slack with low key securitymechs only partially filled
the demand.

Capabilities:
The Securitymaster was one of many cheap, often uninspired light battlemechs
used for security and peacekeeping rather than military action. it
was described as a "box on legs", an uninspired, but functional slab-sided design.

The quad twenty ton chassis used off-the-shelf parts and components picked
mostly for their price and availability rather than a mission profile.

The Securitymaster is surprisingly nimble with a very good top speed, it has
more than adequate protection and respectable firepower in the shape of a
single large laser, enough to dissuade all but the most determined and
well-equipped foes short of actual military forces.

Designed for limited operations, the mech is prone to breakdowns when pushed
hard for extended periods, compared to the more rugged military mechs.

Battle History:
The Securitymaster was sold across most of the Inner Sphere and the Periphery,
the odd one even ending up in Clan space. As the Republic began to falter and
internal turmoil began, the Securitymaster increasingly found itself in a
combat role it was never designed for. Most leaders understood the limitations
and retained them as reserves or sentry units, but other forces, lacking
equipment were forced to use them as front-line units with mixed results.

The Securitymaster did well in low-key fighting against similar tech, but as
soon as it faced more advanced mechs and weapons the Securitymaster was
hopelessly outmatched.

Deployment:
The Securitymaster is a common sight across the Inner Sphere and for the
younger generations one of the few actual combat mechs that they had ever
known. The simple, no frills-design and attractive price means that the
mech was used by a wide range of services, from mercenaries to security
companies to SWAT and MAX-TAC teams in areas of high intensity crime or low key
civil unrest.

Variants:
The large laser was a comittee decision, over the years there was a demand for
a version with a more versatile arsenal, which lead to the development of the
SMT-110, featuring a pair of standard medium lasers, four machineguns and a ton
of ammo with two machineguns facing rearwards.

Another version the SMT-120 mounts a pair of small lasers, and adds grenade
launchers and a water cannon. This version is designed for riot control and
even as a substitute fire-fighting mech.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
"Dibble" Holds a distinction for having defeated two Clan mechs in combat, the
first was a lucky shot that knocked the gyro and disabled a Clan Dasher. The
second was an ambush on a Clan Thor by Dibble, an Urbanmech, a Guardian and two
modified Agromechs. The Urbanmech had previously scored a cockpit hit with his
autocannon and Dibble finished the job with a second hit with his large laser.
Sadly dibble and his pilot were killed when they were attacked by a Clan Wolf
Linebacker in open terrain, unable to get away, Dibble was quickly shot to
pieces before the pilot could escape.

I just can't comprehend the purpose of these "economy" mechs when that's what tanks are for.

It's lighter Legionnaire, not really a new idea here...and a tank would be a better choice.
