Let us consider one world …

Twycross - https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Twycross

Surface water 40%
Population over one billion

Planetary Info – “a weather-wild desert planet that orbits a large and hot sun, where cataclysmic events and powerful wind-storms are common, and its people are used to this. Due to these storms and events the population placed their cities and towns underground or made surface structures squat and flat. Twycross has a massive and continuous storm known as the Diabolis, which spawns never ending destructive weather.”

Question – as there is no information as to organic matter from dead plants and animals – hydrocarbons – are we to assume that there is no oil or natural gas or even coal upon this world (no information provided)?

And if this is so what type of engines are predominantly used upon this world as the importation of any liquid / gas fuel will require a vast fleet of ships in order to maintain enough fuel for either their vehicles or electrical power when you consider that the population is over one billion people.

Then let us apply this to every world within the Battletech Universe …

How are we to know which worlds have access to hydrocarbons in order to manufacture fuel or is there a synthetic fuel that is used upon every world and that can easily manufacture?

If so which company is this in each House and how do we know which worlds have this – or are we to assume every known world has them to enable the running of all vehicles?

Also Holy Terra – by the year 3000 you would assume that every fossil fuel source has long been used up – so were is the fuel coming from (for vehicles and electricity) or have they long since switched to electricity for all vehicles?
Get thee to Coventry … Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious by this daughter of Tharkad … Our army shall march through. Well to New Avalon tonight.

No, that list is missing several thousand BattleTech planets. Like I said in the last thread, fuel production was addressed in ATOW under the USILR code discussion. And A Time of War says every planet has fuel, differing in how much effort is required to make the fuel.

No, that assumption is contradicted in canon, per a reference you were already given. It's also contradicted by basic biology - the planet wouldn't have a human-habitable biosphere if it was lacking hydrogen and carbon.

Further, that assumption is also an example of the logical fallacy known as an argument from ignorance. Assuming that missing information proves something is a fallacy.

Finally, this thread is locked because you're attempting to resume a locked discussion.
