I'm very impressed with the great content in the news, both in sheer amount and quality.
But I feel "News" is not the right appellation for this section; it rather feels like a blog or online magazine and I suggest renaming it accordingly. Especially since there is a (different) news section on the wiki front page that is really concerned with actual news concerning Sarna and the BTW universe.

I understand your thoughts -- I went back and forth with what to call it, between "news" and "blog". While I agree that BTW has its own news section on the front page, it's really just sound-bites limited to the wiki.
The main news section could be called a "blog", but I feel like that's too technical of a word. Really, the news section is about "BattleTech news", not about "BattleTech blog". Both words could communicate what the link brings you to, but I think "news" is straighter to the point. While sarna.net has been a wiki much longer than it has had general BT news/blog, my hope is that the news section grows to become as helpful to the BT community as the wiki.
Still thinking about it though
