Class 5 Targeting & Tracking System: Army Corporation Type 29K ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== This fighter was built for the Federated Commonwealth to use as a Mech busting unit or as an Anti-Drop Ship Combat Fighter. However with the Delays of parts and the sudden death of their leader of the Design Team every thing was put on hold until 3039 five years after the fighter was first placed on paper.
Now after five years the Fighter was back on the Drawing board by a young Researcher who pulled the plans and started to make changes to the Fighter. It went from a 60 ton Fighter to a 100-ton monster (almost a 50% weight Gain) while the SRMs and many of its smaller Lasers in favor of Auto Cannons and Larger Lasers.
While it’s armor Protection went from 10.5 tons to 18 tons almost doubling its armor. However it took the team a few more months be for working out some more of the bugs on paper. Soon the first test model was built using a Computer simulator the Team had been able to see how it would work out in flight and in a fight. After seeing how poorly it did when a much smaller yet faster fighter got be hind it the team moved the two nose medium lasers to the Aft of the fighter.
Also the Fighter was given a new way of saving the Pilot in Space combat. The entire cockpit and the nose brakes away from the rest of the fighter and making it a mini Escape Pod with a two day life support back up and food supplies that not even Mechs are able to do and jumps the pilot survivability from nil to about 40%. Should this happen on planet the pod is safely floated down on a parasail and has a homing beacon just as it would in space.
Even with these new equipment installed there has been problems with the Escape Pods blowing up in space or their parasail not deploying and crashing to the ground. But that seems to only happen if the nose was badly damaged.
The Firing and Targeting controls have been known to fry if the weapons get to hot while in combat and forced the Team to rout the Wires close to the Head Sinks to prevent them from over heating while not a complete fix the fighter will still suffer from slower targeting and Tracking until the fighter is back below the red.
Even after many problems the fighter was built and sent to many Militia units and even a few house units in 3045. It was teamed up with faster fighters became the biggest threat to any enemy Drop ship, even more so should these attack in a pack they can tear large chunks out of drop ships making it a deadly foe one should never take an eye off of with out the risk of becoming it‘s next victim.
