==Overview:==
The Black Lion battlecruiser entered service with the SLDF in 2691.
Although it weighed slightly more than 800,000 tons, the Black Lion could
outmaneuver most transports and was capable of 2.5 Gs of acceleration.
However, the size and complexity of the Black Lion's drive system made it
very difficult to maintain, which reduced the vessel's military value
somewhat. Despite that shortcoming, the Black Lion's superior speed,
armaments and armor made them a popular choice to head naval battle groups.
Although the Black Lion's lack of energy weapons has often been cited as a
weakness, the vessel proved quite effective during the Reunification War and
later during Kerensky's liberation of Terra. Despite these successes, the
Black Lion remained vulnerable to fighter attack like most WarShips, and many
were destroyed during the long campaign. In fact, less than a dozen Black Lion
Class WarShips survived to accompany the Exodus fleet.
The Black Tiger version of the of the Black Lion is an attempt by the Star
League to correct some of the defiencies of the older design, while at the
same time providing the Star League Navy with a carrier that carrys almost as
much firepower as the Black Lion, at at the same time uses the same hull
configuration to decieve enemy sensors until its to late for the enemy to
react to the swarm of fighters beginning to lauch from the Black Tigers bays.
The Addition of a fifth dropship was deemed needed in order for a dedicated
cargoship for the Black Tiger Fighter supply's. only 10 of this class was
built and all are believed to be destroyed at the retaking of Terra, where
they were part of the advance force that jumped in before the main invasion
force that was tasked with destroying as many as possible Casper System
Defence drones.
With recent discoverys, the new Star League has ordered the construction of
two new Black Tigers, the Necro Tiger and Tiger Dragon.
