Maine-class Dreadnought

The Maine-class Dreadnought is the "battlewagon" version of the Enterprise-class Supercarrier. Built to have the same nominal mass, and sharing many components, the Maine's hull is only 1,280m long (320m shorter than the Enterprise's). Instead of the latter's two massive gravdecks sandwiching the fighter bays, the Maine has two massive weapon-bay rings and a single massive gravdeck amidships. Each interchangeable ring mounts four massive turrets for the ship's capital weaponry, and ninety point defense turrets dot the hull. These small emplacements are also interchangeable with the Enterprise's, and so each mount twin Large Pulse Lasers and quad Micro Pulse Lasers. It is, however, for the eight colossal barbettes that the Maine receives her designation as dreadnought, for each turret features three four-barrel NAC-30s, for a staggering total of ninety-six in all. Each turret also includes quad Barracuda launchers, but they are a pale second to the giant NACs.

Perhaps even more impressive than the raw firepower of the design is its modularity: the Enterprise and Maine classes have been called "Erector-Set warships", not only because they share so many components, but also because they are both essentially made up of five modules: four of which are the same on both ships: they are KF drive, the command and engineering sections (fore and aft, respectively) and the capacious hab section; the first "spears" the latter three in a giant shish kabob, or like an arm with bracelets. In addition, the dreadnought’s turret ring is precisely half the size of the carrier’s; it is conceivable a combination warship could be built with a smaller fighter complement and a single turret ring.

Total Cost: 7,941,122,400 C-Bills
Battle Value: 557,309
Cost per BV: 14,249.05

NOTE: "If my calculations are correct..." the BV is right. If so, that means that, AFAIK, the old Battlespace spreadsheet is now fully AT2 compatible! Whoopee!

The only thing I could see any problem with, is the cargo percentage...BUT that is not really a problem since cargo is open ended.

Looks very nice...now I wonder what an all secondary weapon armed vessel would look like...imagine a 1.9 million ton vessel with nothing but Gauss Rifles and PPCs...

I imagine it would at first appear a little "fuzzy" until you came in close enough to realize that each of those little hais was a distinct gun of some sort.

I thought a bit more, and realized I'd done the PD mounts wrong...so here's the redistribution (and remember, each mount is 2LPL and 4 RPL): 120 Fore, 60 each Broadside, 120 Aft. Same total number.
