I am a newcomer to this particular forum but having looked through old posts most of them seem to be for warships and very few are for ASF/D-Ships. So...
The mission is to design a D-Ship for a "raid in force"
I would say that this will need to be a big spheroid D- Ship It should carry 1 battalion of mechs 1 Battalion of vehicles Some infantry (armoured or unarmoured) Fighters - to get the force planetside Cargo space - to carry away any spoils It should be well armed and armoured for survivability
All of these parameters are variable as you see fit as your idea of "raid in force" may differ to mine
ps Can you fit a "targetting computer" to a dropship?

Are you sure these specs aren't for a full scale planetary invasion?
I am designing one, but down to a company of both mechs and vehicles.
If you really want the full battalion, I can try and design a second one to fit into the true mission parameters.

NOTES: AFT is the standard "direction of attack" for this craft. Upon entering a system, the viper immediatly disembarks from its jumpship and begins accelerating toward target planet. The Viper will attempt to leave all jumpstation defenses behind. It carries enough fuel to travel at 2gs for 28 days, and participate in combat along the way. Generally, the Viper will not enter the orbit of a planet before landing. The last phases of the Viper's deceleration actually occur in the targe planets atmosphere. This means that the approaching planet, and its defenses, are generally "behind" the craft.
