The Chickenhawk is the result of a project of Crossroads(faction in alternate history) to create an easily mass produced yet durable and powerful aircraft dedicated for ground attacks. Incapable of dogfighting even most conventional fighters, the Chickenhawk is nonetheless very successful at it's intended role. It is comparable to the IL-2s of WWII. The designers of the Chickenhawk made care to make the fighter as easy to produce and to pilot as possible. It's as user-friendly as possible, both for the pilots and the mechanics that maintain it on the ground. The Chickenhawk is often used on interceptor bases, deployed close to the fighting. It's speed and armament's range would be considered a paltry for a 30 ton aircraft, but it's sufficient for strafing runs. It can also pursue slower enemy dropships by swarm, delivering a death by a thousand cuts. Friendly ground forces particularly adore the Chickenhawk which almost always is available to lend a hand, earning the Chickenhawk the nickname "Winged Guardian"

The Chickenhawk fighter shown here is the native stock variant. There the correct machinery parts and materials allows the aerospace fighter to be created with the following quality with little cost. Some factions copied the Chickenhawk, but they often are not nearly as cheap, easy to build and pilot, or effective.

Variants:
One very common variant replaces two of the wing mounted ER small lasers for an AI controlled rearward ER Medium Laser. This variant for the most part solved pilot complaints of the lack of rearward weaponry to defend itself from hostile fighters.

In the event of the scarcity of Reactive Armor any other material can be used. Materials from standard armor to Ferro-Lamellor are known to be used on the Chickenhawk from time to time.

Copycats of the Chickenhawks do exist, but they tend to lack in some area or another, whether it be in armor or it's general construction quality.

An experimental version of the Chickenhawk halves it's armor, installs an XL engine, and equips the chickenhawk with omnitechnology(14.5 lbs of pod space w/o adding fuel). Dubbed the "Turkeyhawk", it is a completely different beast in everything except looks.
