==Overview:==

As soon as New Vandenberg and seventeen other Periphery worlds revolted in
2765 against stiff Star League taxes, unstable First Lord Richard Cameron
embarked on construction of a Battlestation class warship named the Phoenix.
Despite the assassination of Lord Cameron in 2766 by Stefan Amaris and the
chaos that ensued, the Phoenix was completed in 2775. The design and
construction utilized vast Star League resources along with the most
sophisticated warship construction techniques and equipment at an undisclosed
location.

The philosophy of the Battlestation class warship was to squash rebellions
and strike fear in all those who would think about opposing the Star League.
Apparently, at that point, trying to keep the Star League together outweighed
any other consideration. The fearsome reputation of the Battlestation is well
deserved since the design possesses the firepower of a small fleet.

The first and only Battlestation class warship was named after a legendary
Terran bird Phoenix which is said to live 500 years, die in a fiery blaze,
only to again rise from its ashes to live as an emblem of immortality. The
Phoenix is a spherically designed warship that is vaguely similar to a super
sized Union Dropship. The exterior of the station is heavily armored and the
interior is heavily reinforced and sectionalized which makes boarding actions
difficult especially with large equipment or weapons (including Clan
Elementals).

The design’s large fighter capacity give it additional mission flexibility
and firepower. One of the most unusual aspects of the Phoenix is its advanced
jump drive which reportedly allows the Battlestation to stay in jump space for
an extended period of time although the effects of doing so are unknown. Some
have speculated that this ability to stay in jump space was used by members of
the Star League army when they seized the Phoenix just shortly before General
Kerensky could depart with it on his exodus in 2784. Although it may have
failed to keep the Star League together, the Phoenix is an engineering marvel
and represents the pinnacle of Star League aerospace technology.

So many 2.5 million ton warships...
Is it just that no one likes small warships or do the rules for some reason favor bigger ships?

They don't. Some folks can't build small ships cause their munchkin must win way of playing is not going to happen.

Ah. Why not make a super small warship equivalent of the Savannah master then?

Some of them don't see that, they see the bigger is better and thus they can cram all of the super cool weapons on it.

Same thing with mechs, all of the alpha strike players and other munchkins won't use smaller mechs cause they can't win with them, since they don't offer all the perks of being able to munch out to allow them to win at all cost.

I see.
Then you must show them the error of their ways by savannah master/BA spamming their assaults into oblivion.

That is something I have seen done many times. But most folks don't want to play at that level, they want a fun game that challenges them and offers them something for winning or even losing. Mucnhkins and powerplayers and others of this type can't enjoy themselves unless they are winning and they will find a way to win at all cost. The ship here in question is another such animal, it's not by any means the best of the munchkin style but it is another example of using the rules to make it so others will have a hard time against it.

Most folks would tell ATN no, you can't use this ship, or they will say okay use it, but here is my counter, XX number of warships with full dropship and aerofighters etc...and then ATN is in a position that means he can't win against the numbers so to him that would be cheating cause we aren't playing at his level of play. My opinion only.

If someone showed up to my group, we would not let him use this ship. It would be a fight none of us would be interested in and would tell him up front sorry but no. Same with the munchkin mechs/vehicles. We had an invite open to two groups of folks we met at a local convention back in 1999. They wanted to play a three-sided fight, scenario was simple, we each get two mechs, any tonnage or tech, No LAMs though, and piloting/gunnery would be rolled right before game started. Well it only took the first turn for us to realize that group be came full munchkin-tard. One player had a 70 Clan tech mech with 4 Lg Pulse lasers, enough heat sinks and a TC, so even with his crappy pilot he was all ready to go full bore. His second mechs twin LBX10s with nothing but cluster and 4 SRM6s. Similar style for the other three players of his group.

The rest of us had a mix of book mechs and home designs and none of us had planned on fighting munchkin warriors. The battle played out and overall it was something I don't want to play again. It was nothing but a Solaris style fight, no tactics no thinking, just move and shoot, very similar to POS Mechwarrior games for the computer and the XBox. This was not fun for anyone but the group that was there to win no matter what.

We never did see that group of players again, not at the next convention or anyother for that matter, I guess they went on to other games.

Point is not many folks like playing against munchkins and given how ATN takes comments against his postings, well I am sure we will see him defend this spacestation/warship Death Star wannabe till he comes up with some other clone of it to share with us.
