In my previous Alt History Posts I have proposed that Corinne Marik by her right of succession based upon her lineage should have become the next Captain General of the Free Worlds League upon the Death of Thomas in 3035.
The Capellan Confederation should have been annexed into the Federated Commonwealth during the war of 3039 -40.
Then we have the arrival of the Clans within the Inner Sphere in 3050.
By 3052-3 the Star League is once more reformed due to political and military reasons to project a united front against the threat of the Clans – and with the Star League the SLDF is once more reformed – to deal with the Clans.
The Constitutional Lawyers of all sides would ensure the new Star League would not resemble the Old in the fact there would not be a First Lord Position – it, in all reality, should look somewhat similar to the United Nations Security Council (without the veto powers).
Prior to all this both Corinne Marik (during 3023) and Victor Steiner-Davion are born (12 April 3030) – a difference of only six / seven years.
So, what would the Inner Sphere look like if Corinne, Captain General of the Free Worlds League, married Victor, First Prince of the Federated Commonwealth sometime shortly thereafter the reformation of the Star League and thus a new super power was established – The Free Federated Commonwealth.
The Draconis combine would begin to experience anxiety towards this new super power.
Would the Word of Blake physically split from Comstar as they may now believe they have nowhere to go. Thus they must now strike from within Comstar, starting a civil war, if they hope to become a single autonomous entity.
Katherine, Victor’s sister, becomes separated from the position of ruler of this new realm – especially if Corinne and Victor have children.
How can she increase her own power base in such a situation?
As any attempt by her to seize power will result in a war with the former Free Worlds League.
What if Victor and Omika Kurita have a "relationship" – straining his marriage with Corinne.
And how will all this affect the War with Clans.
In all reality would not the SLDF become a more coordinated strike force but also a larger strike force will be utilized could be unleashed upon them.
However will the Word of Blake’s technological advancements be available or during this time period or would ComStar also have access to this research?
and would they have shared these research and development breakthroughs as per the Star League reformation treaty provisions? (ie. each state is required to assist the SLDF / and by extension the other Star League states with the sharing of technological information)
In addition with the Formation of this super state how will it affect its voting block within the Star League Security Council – from two to one?
Thus smaller states (St. Ives, ComStar, WOB, Andurien / Canopus) could end up having more voting power within the new Star League Security Council than that of the Super Powers (FFC and DC)
As an alternate universe to that of the Canon it does create a unique difference.
