I love the game but there is just so little one can do within the rules to keep things new, fresh, and interesting. Just about any kind of battlemech that can be thought of had been done to death decades ago. I enjoyed designing my ultra light vehicles but even that ran its course and I have little new to make up that seems fresh and new.

See you again in 2020! maybe....?
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

I was a Major *pain* before
But I got a promotion.
I am now a General *pain*
Yay for promotions!!!

I always thought the reintroduction of the old Solaris VII dueling rulings from the boxed set with some revisions/additions would provide an interesting avenue of game play. Since Randall and Herb disliked the dueling rules, it didn't happen

God its been nearly three years since the last time I logged on. Did anyone find something fresh and new to talk about? I love the game but the rules are just so limiting for creativity in new ideas.

Its been a long time but there does not seem to be that many posts since the last time I have logged in way back in 2021. Have people moved to other websites for battletech or have people just been losing interest in battletech?

Since its been over three years I am sure there are many people who have joined, posted some things, and gone on to other things since I have last been here.

The "official" (CGL) BattleTech forum is alive and well.

As for the concerns you voiced, there are some small optional tweaks like the initiative card deck, or the simplified aerospace support rules from the BattleMech Compendium. But by and large the game rules seem to be done - arguably there’s too much options already so pumping out new stuff just for the sake of it will just see the entire system jump the shark. Or would you want to see rules for using vehicles as roller skates or 'Mech jousting? I would run away screaming. Don’t fix what ain't broken.

What kind of scenario do you feel we need additional rules for?

I mean "we" as in the BattleTech players and fan community as a whole.

That said, yes, I've been working for CGL for well over a decade now as mostly a factchecker and occasionally freelancer (which I believe is publicly known given my Sarna page and my name in the imprint of several CGL publications). But I am not a developer and have little to no influence on rules stuff and I am not speaking for CGL.

Not how most see the use of the word we but hey thanks for clearing it up.
