--- The Giant is a 100 Ton, Assault-Class BattleMech manufactured by StarTech Systems at their facilities located on Terra. The Giant was designed and manufactured in the year 2501, just three years after the Terran Hegemony had tested their Mackie. The very first model to walk off the lines would be the GNT-1P model, followed by the GNT-1A in 2750. The GNT-1A would become the standard model, with a large number being built. The SLDF would eventually request a variant for their SLDF Royal Regiments, and the GNT-1Ab would go on to serve in the ComGuard as well as in numerous House Regiments after the recvoery of the Helm Memory Core. During the Star League Era, StarTech Systems would also release a refit kit for their GNT-1P which removed the primitive weapons and replaced them with the complement found on the GNT-1A models. This variant would become known as the GNT-2P. Later on in 3058 the Draconis combine would license the rights to build there own GNT-1K.

--- The GNT-1P and 2P models would become wide-spread throughout the Periphery, with examples of both being found within even the Deep Periphery. Everyone from Pirates, Independent Kingdoms, all the way up to the armies of larger Periphery organizations like the Marian Hegemony, the Magistry of Canopus and even the Taurian Concordant have field examples of these ancient archons of war. The GNT-1P mounts an unorthodox 200-Rated Fission Engine as it's power plant, while it's Pre-Spaceflight arsenal consists of a trio of Medium Rifles paired to a trio of 'Mech scale Mortar/2s. Even by 3025 standards this would be a formidable complement. All of it's weapons are supplied with a ton of ammo each. The -1P, as well as it's -2P counterpart, make use of Primitive Cockpits and Primitive Armor. The -2P distinguishes itself by replacing the -1P's weapons with the complement found on the later -1A models. The six tons of ammo found on the -1P are replaced with Single Heat Sinks while the two Single Heat Sinks in the Center Torso are removed to make way for the ammo bins which feed the -2P's triple LRM-10 launchers their two ton allocation of ammo.

---The GNT-1A was the benchmark for the line, being designed and built in 2750, this model would use a 300-Rated Fusion Engine for it's power plant, while a trio of LRM-10s provided the main long-range hitting power of the 'Mech. Two tons of ammo provided enough oomph for just under a minute and a half of sustained fire, while the launchers were backed up by three Large Lasers for medium and close range work. The -1A model also added a pair of BattleFists, which gave it an edge should the battle devolve into a melee. The SLDF Royal variant was effectively the -1A re-built with Double Strength Heat Sinks housed in and around a 400-Rated XL Fusion Engine and seated within an advanced Endo-Steel chassis. The lasers were replaced with ER versions and the LRMs were upgraded by adding an Artemis IV FCS to each one. Although neither CASE nor Ferro-Fibrous Armor, the 'Mech exhibited excellent protection and the two tons of ammo stored in the well-armored Center Torso were typically ran dry before they ever had a chance to blow.

--- The -1K model was a licensed design made for, commissioned by, and produced within the Draconis Combine for the DCMS in 3058. It replaces the Large Lasers with a trio of PPCs and replaces the LRM 10s with a trio of MRM 20s. Although there is still no CASE, the -1K does make use of Double Strength Heat Sinks, enabling to fire either it's PPCs or MRMs with relative impunity. Pilots should take care not to Alpha Strike however, and hot worlds have proven to be the bane of this design. Two tons of ammo give the MRMs the same staying power as their longer ranged cousins, with eighty seconds worth of sustained fire, but they exhibit twice the volume of fire for those eighty seconds. This gives them a slight edge over the LRMs of the -1A and -2P models, and in the hands of a pilot with capable Gunnery, makes them even more deadly. Adequate armor on top of a 300-Rated Fusion engine give the -1K good defensive endurance, while the use of Ferro-Fibrous Armor in combination with a Standard Chassis striek a balance between capability and maintainability.
