The Lycosidae is the Crossroad Republic's first Protomech.

Crossroad's roaming Humanitarian Fleets picked up thousands of survivors during the chaotic Wars of Reaving. During the conflict the Crossroad forces encountered Society separatists several times in combat, fighting, destroying, and capturing salvage samples of Protomechs. Many less fanatical scientist caste members involved in Protomech projects were extracted as well.

After the Wars of Reaving and the Jihad, Crossroad citizens returned home from off-world campaigns with liberated scientists, engineers, and plenty of spoils. The experiences of the volunteers involved in the campaign to liberate Terra, in particular, captured the Republic's imagination, and Parliament passes measures to encourage scientific research and development in hopes to develop as impressive a world as Terra. From this, the integration of some liberated Clan and Inner Sphere scientists, and the salvaged samples from the off-world campaigns, began a golden age of Crossroadian Technology.

As far as military technology went, the Crossroad Republic attempted to kick-start its own Protomech program, more out of simple curiosity than from military necessity. The primary objective of the program was to create a more practical Protomech system with a modified version of the Enhanced Imaging Neural Implants, which had the dubiously health and moral issues of driving the operator insane in a matter of years.

The first protomech to come out of the project was the Lycosidae, a swift, well-armored and decently armed weapons platform with a basic electronics suite. Externally, it's not much different than a similarly sized clan Protomech. Internally, the "cockpit" is effectively a PA(L) sized suit with a highly modular control system, which will allow for any future implants or control schemes. The current prototype, the Mk.0, still uses a slightly modified version of EI with much the same sanity-related disadvantages, and as such testing is extremely limited and regulated, with test pilots being limited to volunteers with terminal illnesses.

With physical examples and some former WoB & Clan personnel who had worked on Cybernetics and implants, the Protomech team had a lot of previous example systems to research on, such as EI, DNI, VDNI, and buffered VDNI. A new, safer form of Buffered VDNI which is currently un-named is under intensive development within the Republic and thought to be finished for widespread use by 3087.

Suprisingly, the Crossroad Republic's Airborne division has shown some interest in the Protomech project, hoping to eventually use them as "ultra-light" fire support weapons that can be carried in a small 10-ton or 20-ton bay in a Small Craft, or transported to the front by VTOL lift hoists along with conventional infantry or BA, compared to the 150 tons necessary for a standard Battlemech bay, or 50 tons for a Light Vehicle bay. Whether that vision of airborne infantry supported by lightweight Protomechs comes to pass remains to be seen.

Curious on what this is about, as the protomech doesn't have ballistic or missile weapons listed.

Other then that, it looks to be a clean design and fluff.

First column is weapons and ammo (and equipment), the 2nd column is where the equipment is located (T for Torso), last column is the mass of said equipment.

It originally had a cleaner formatting. Unfortunately, the cleanliness gets lost when posting it here.
