------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== --- The LAR-4 Lariat is a 15 Ton BattleMech designed to move with vehicle and infantry assets to provide them with economical close-range fire support. Although under-whelming when engaged in any form of 'Mech-on-'Mech combat; the LAR-4 Lariat exhibits overwhelming firepower against common paramilitary-grade assets, especially within urban environments. The LAR-4 is also handy for breaking through entrenchments and assaulting crew-served weapons in prepared positions.
--- The LAR-4's twin Four-Tube SRM launchers are both fed by a single ton magazine, however when on the offensive this ammunition-based weaponry can be configured with ammo that more closely fits the nature and disposition of the enemy forces. Fragmentation SRMs and Smoke SRMs are particularly popular choices, while Inferno and Tandem-Charge loads are not unheard of either.
--- Three tons of BAR 10 BattleMech Grade Armor provide the LAR-4 with enough protection to weather small arms fire for protracted periods of time, while the Lariat's 60 Rated Fusion Engine propels it to a maximum ground speed of 64.8 km/h. Ten Single-Strength Heat Sinks keep the LAR-4 cool even under the hottest conditions while the roomy cockpit makes extensive postings a breeze.
==Variants:== - LAR-5 - Cost:935,410 C-Bills - BV2: 306
--- The LAR-5 Lariat simply swaps out the SRM 4s for a pair of LRM 5s with one ton of ammo.

I would think lrms would be more suited for fire support. Not sure why. Might be the sit back and lob into the enemy thought.
One thing you might have issues with is the one ton of ammo. Basically 12 shots with each launcher. Granted, that seems to be barely adequate for the canon mechs for fire support, but then this is one unit that should not be anywhere near a battle. I could see this as a light raider. Hit depots, grab stuff, and get out.
