For some reason, I just don't see a flamer really working in space. Not so much the lack of oxygen, as it is part of the mixture, but the actual distance in the cold environment of space. I would think it would be useless after a few meters, much less one space hex.

One thing I might suggest in the stats, is pylon numbers for bombs. I can see this being a real nasty ship when doing a carpet bombing run.
Along with this a conversion to Battlespace/Aerotech for the armor would help.

Granted, the price might make it better to use a few normal fighters for the weapons package, and probably some extra weapons as well.

You do realize this is built in Heavy Metal Aero and follows the rules of Aerotech 2? Which means it's already converted to that?

No. I don't know or use Heavy Metal Aero, nor do I have the rules for Aero 2 or battlespace.
But for a 1000 tons ship, having 256 armor on all sides sounds wrong for anything outside of the normal Battletech.
So it sounds like 25 points in the naval weapons would be about right.
Sorry if I got something wrong here.

But now looking at the armor, one ship has 60.50 tons while the other has 48.50 tons of standard armor with 1,024 total armor points for both. Typo I am thinking here.
If this isn't a typo, then you should have more weight to play with on the first ship. Or less armor on the second.

It's capital armor, and I highly suggest reading the rules in the newer books, they will bring you up to date and yes 25 points of naval weapons damage, 70 points is the magic number for larger spacecraft.

It's not a typo. It's how things work for that part of the game. Spaceships dish out and take a ton of damage, dropships are still spacecraft, mechs can hurt them, but how often are we hearing of or seeing mechs take out a dropship?

Standard flamers are energy weapons that eject plasma. Vehicle flamers use fuel and oxygen.

Space isn't cold; it's nothingness. Space has no substance to conduct or convect heat from a hot object. The only way something hot like plasma will lose heat is to radiate it. A fast moving jet of plasma will be able to travel many kilometers before cooling down.

The Flamers on the Callahan and the Hazard are for anti-infantry / incendiary work when the dropship is planetside.

Ok. So what am I missing in this statement?
Same ship. Same overall tonnage. Same armor.
One has 60.50 tons of armor.
One has 48.50 tons of armor.
Both come up to 1,024 points of armor.
1,024 points..
Divided by 60.50= 16.925 points per ton.
Divided by 48.50= 21.11 points per ton.
Same armor, same weight, yet 4.1 or so points different.
Only thing I can think of at the moment is normal clan armor has more protection then normal IS armor for warships/dropships.
I know the advanced armors are different, but not the basic bottom of the line armor.

This is not true with armor for mechs and such, I would find it odd that Warships and dropships would be different.

Clan armor is more for the same amount of tonnage than the Inner Sphere armor, so it could indeed be the same numbers for less for the Clans.
