------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Sagitarius is the remains of an old Archer left in a scrap yard on Solaris
and rebuilt by it's pilot Jack "Two-Shots" Baurer.

A frakenstein of mech parts, all of the original weapons were destroyed or
scavanged over the years save for one Diverse Optics Type-18 medium lasers in
the left arm. The cavities in the mech torso where one would expect to find
the twin Doombud launchers have been replace with massive Luxor Mobile Battery
Arrow-IV system in the right torso and a Delta-Dart LRM-5 system. Each weapon
system is fed with 1 ton of ammo each and protected by a CASE. The last weapon
found on the right armor is a Donal PPC.

Due to the mechs refurbishment and age, all of the weapon systems are plagued
with problems. The medium laser has a poor cooling jacket and generators a
bit more heat (+1 heat) then normal. The ammo loading system is complex and
clunky system, requiring nearly 20 seconds to reload (2 combat rounds) the
Arrow-IV system and the LRM-5 has a tendency to fire twice. The PPC's fire
control system, being finicky, will often mistarget (+1 or -1 on hit location
table when firing at side profiles) or have difficulty locking onto targets
(+1/-1 on to-hit difficulty when shooting at a target's front/rear profile).*

*Game note:
Everytime the LRM-5 is fired, treat it similar to Ultra autocannon rules.,
roll 2D6. On a result of 5 or higher, the LRM shoots a another flight of 5
missles. On the next consectutive round the launcher is fired, the target
number is 7+ , the third round is 9+. The LRM-5 may not shoot more then 3
consecutive rounds and if used more then 3 consecutive rounds, must cool off
for 2 rounds (regardless if the launcher fired additional volleys.Treat damage
as two flights on LRM-5 on the missle table and the LRM generators additional
hit when it misfires.

Roll 1D6 when firing the PPC. If the die shows evens, +1. If the die shows
odds, -1. Apply the modifery to the corresponding hit location or to-hit
chance based on the profile of the enemy mech showing to the Sagittarius.

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
Jack "Two-Shots" Baurer:
Gunnery: 2
Piloting: 4

Jack is an older pilot and considered one of the best pilots on Solaris,
despite not advancing above the lower rankings due to his skills. It's rumored
his personality prevents him from getting hired by some of the more
established and well known stables.

There are many rumors about his nick-name. Some say he got it on his first
match, when he was shot out of his mech from his opponent's second hit due to
faulty ejection system. One rumor is he doesn't give two-shots about anyone,
as he is often seen having two-shots of alcohol after a match at the local bar
by himself. The latest rumor says it's because of his fighting style, where he
never uses the same weapon more then twice before using a different weapon and
going back to the first. Most people just say he's a dam good and lucky pilot.

I was trying to imagine an Archer with an Arrow-IV and got an idea for Solaris. The quirks of this mech would make for an interesting match.

This seems to be a mech for artillery duty, not the solaris matches. The arrow IV being the issue. No tag means hard as hell to use in an arena.
Also, I would avoid the double firing missile launchers in canon, as there will be questions on why it couldn't be applied to all launchers, allowing them to fire twice in normal combat.

Outside of that, it seems an oddity, but that isn't bad.
I would suggest a TAG unit so it can self target with the Arrow missiles. Yes, I do understand that drives up the price of the missiles as the homing type are expensive. The alternative makes it a waste of space.

Arrow IV … recovered technology in 3044

Gauss Rifle …. Field testing commenced during the closing months of the War of 3039.

Can I suggest swapping out the Arrow IV for a Gauss Rifle for a fire support unit?

Reqium, news flash, not everyone cares about when an item was brought into play. Recall all the SL tech was in the TRO2750 thus for many it's there to be used however they want. Also not everyone plays by the set timeline or even cares about it.

The Gauss Rifle can be used up close verses the Arrow having a minimum range without a TAG.
The Rifle is better then LRMs, as well as AC2, with the same minimum as AC5 as well as PPC. Though a fire support unit doesn't really have a defined definition, such as having to have something with a minimum range.
I just envision them as having a good target range set back from the front line. Second or even further back idea.

But without the time line, the Arrow isn't really a good thing without the TAG in a duel. Even with the TAG, it isn't the best choice. Area of Effect can bite you, as well as just the cost of ammo and heat. For the weight, there are plenty of other things that would be better in an arena duel. But it can have it's uses in some of the arenas.
And if used outside of the arena, it has a lot more.

In reference to the time line, that is just forgetfulness. it is a small drop down box that I always forget to look out.

For the weapon choice, I suggest everyone pop the seals on your self imposed vaccum. Not every one is about the perfect mech for the perfect match for the perfect terrain for a perfect niche situation and pen and paper break downs. This mech design was more about the pilot and the mech he uses. I have always envisioned the solaris matches were more like old cowboy films where the hero fights with skill, grit, and luck; the pilots use a perferred mech in some arranged match/arena which might put them at a disadvantage by the Stable owners all for the prestige, money, and notoriety.
