Within the Post re: Alexander Kerensky the following was postulated …. (so a new post is required for a new topic)

Kerensky, in my opinion, …. appeal to their base nature (an if that doesn’t work threaten them and even a limited strike may have been warranted to get their attention).

At this time Kerensky should have channeled President Theodore Roosevelt’s foreign policy: “speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far”.

Plan -

Terra is an independent state – access to this system is by order of the High Council.
Many worlds within the TH were utilized as Fleet Staging grounds before deployment - ie. 20th Fleet was staged above New Earth.
The SLDF bases are being rebuilt to house the remnants of the SLDF – The TH is still a part of the SL
Thus the Admiralty are using these worlds for Logistical purposes.
The Fleet is acting as a security force.
They are not taking the TH by forceful acquisition - this is where they are garrisoned / stationed.

Prior to the Amaris coup the Director-General was in charge (that of Richard Cameron II)
With his death and the subsequent transition of power the Terran Hegemony is now ruled by the High Council.

So politically – Each individual High Council Member rules their own realm with their own military.
However, collectively (as a group) the High Lord Council rules the TH (Important decisions will be made by democratic principles – one House one vote) – Day to Day ruling of every world is via each world’s independent government – and within this area the military is the SLDF (a force not aligned to any one House).

This provides each House Lord on Terra security from rival Houses – any military adventurism toward Terra will require them getting through the TH and the SLDF first, as it was pre Amaris Coup. But this time NO military from any external House will be allowed beyond the TH border – security for the TW will remain with the SLDF.

They (House Lords) are not signing over their realms to the SL – their realms will still remain independent. It is just the central TH is now under control of the entire Grand Council – and is being protected by the SLDF.

The SLDF

In Theory - The SLDF will assist the defender against the aggressor state – or they could just hammer both of the Houses – so as to return them both to their side of the border.

In Actuality – Like the UN of today their blue helmets are rarely assigned – regional wars if kept small the Grand Council will order the SLDF not to interfere in the internal workings of each state.

So as long as the TH is not attacked the Houses could engage in limited wars along their borders and keep the SLDF out.
However if a major conflict was to start the SLDF could intervene without the consent of the Grand Council. (ie. based upon their remit of keeping the peace).

And now the questions asked:-

Quote:
'only’ viable solution'?

Ok, ….. , it is as written above

Terra is an independent state – access to this system is by order of the High Council.
It is Governed by the Grand Council – all the House Lords.
Military: None
TH is also Governed by the Grand Council – all the House Lords at the same time – it is also an independent state from all of the Great Houses;
Military: SLDF (act as a buffer state to each of the Great Houses Militaries.

This is just a state within a state scenario …..

You don't understand that each house thought a quick victory would secure their position as First Lord? Nuked worlds do not rise up against you as you move to take another world. They do not need to be feed, or have any supplies sent to them.

Really, so all invaded worlds should become ‘death worlds’ where is no longer possible?

There is no exit strategy …..

“Greeeeat!” strategy M.A.D. …. You kill all their worlds …. They kill all your worlds …. Dr Stragelove anyone?

Look at the number of worlds each side has, look at the number of forces each side has, just the number of warships each side has. If you don’t realize the stupidity of this statement “quick Victory” there is something wrong …. Was every Great Houses’ war supercomputer provided with incorrect information to produce incorrect results?

This canon assumption is completely illogical – it is completely illogical – if it is so rational then WWIII should have already occurred by now.

Quote:
you stop the war when the enemy becomes your puppet or absorbed into your realm.

What’s left of it … as anything of any importance is now a smoldering wreck on a dead world.

And this is the same within every House’s realm ….

So whoever is left can now rule a realm of the dead!

Might did make right … everyone is dead, how much more right do you want!

Quote:
Dreams of Grandeur comes to mind

First it must be achievable – in this case considering the available weapons each side has access to, as well as the size of each military, and their ability to move through unknown systems – even to consider attempting this is quite impossible.

Quote:
It isn't THERE world that will suffer for it.

Can anyone guarantee they will stop 100% of an enemies Navy getting through – who can unleash waves of nukes upon who knows how many worlds to turn them into death worlds?

Quote:
There isn't much they could do, as war was coming no matter what

Sorry I don’t believe this to be accurate? Right to vote throughout the years from male landowners to now the governments had to be forced kicking and screaming every necessary change etc. etc.?

Quote:
It changes the past history of the game.

And the canon history is so perfect that there are is nothing wrong with it at all?
Get thee to Coventry … Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious by this daughter of Tharkad … Our army shall march through. Well to New Avalon tonight.

Economic and Military Benefit an independent TH

With an Independent TH the Grand Council now has the ability to alter its laws to allow all advanced TH technology (especially all their military industrial corporations technology) are now available for every House as well as every Mercenary Unit for acquisition.

Thus what was once available only to the SLDF is now available to every House. Exclusive SLDF Warship Classes, BattleMech and Aerospace fighter designs at the bare minimum.

What each House needs now is time to incorporate this technology into their own forces to maximize their combat efficiency for future small scale wars.

This may benefit each Houses military, however, it will also have the added benefit of assisting the reconstruction of the TH (due to the Amaris Coup).

What this will also mean is Amaris Technological Advances will also be available to every House – Drone Technology, Power Armor, the next level of BattleMechs above Assault Level as the 100 ton limit is broken ….

The Resumption of War within the IS

Initially –

The Grand Council is going to change the SLDF remit (long term plan to get rid of the SLDF).

Their two duties are the security of the TH and Peacekeeping duties throughout the IS – make sure wars of this scale (Amaris Civil Wars) never happen again – this will go down well with the people of the IS as they can see the Grand Council working for the benefit of everyone.
However in reality it is setting up the SLDF for extinction (very long term ….).

With the status quo of a new SL ruled by the Grand Council (individual House Lords) – an independent TH – as well as the SLDF acting as peacekeeping force to promote lasting peace whilst working with local communities and security forces (primarily to protection of civilians).

The Grand Council therefore needs to create conflicts that do not / do require SLDF peacekeepers.

Consider the following: https://www.afsa.org/why-peacekeeping-fails

So, if the government of a world fails to protect its own citizens, the international community may step in to do so. (In Game example. DC “Pirates and ISF agents” destabilizing a FS worlds government from without and within – the word falls to anarchy – DC regular forces step in to “restore” order – ie. the Lyran Thumb all over again)

What this means for the game

A new class of “Black Hat” Mercenaries will arise – who are hired to destabilize worlds;
“White Hat” or Regular forces will be assigned to protect worlds;
If the fighting continues – SLPF peacekeepers may be assigned; and
Regular Forces could be sent in to “restore order”.

Thus any battles may get complicated from now on …...

In addition all players now have a new unit categories they can add to the game – that of the SLDF to the Peacekeeping force – the SLPF – Star League Peacekeeper Force.

Your Peacekeeping duties, (as per above paper: why peacekeeping fails)
- Protecting the TH space
- Establishing a demilitarized zone between two armies;
- Monitoring a demilitarized zone between the two armies following a war between countries over territory. The goal was to allow both sides to have the confidence that neither was taking advantage of a cease-fire to improve its military position;
- Assisting with humanitarian disasters resulted as the noncombatants responded by fleeing the fighting, becoming displaced persons or, if a crossable border was nearby, refugees;
- demobilization of most of the former combatants, helping them reintegrate into civilian life, forming a new national army that was not loyal to only one faction, aiding refugees and displaced persons with returning to their homes, providing;
- humanitarian aid and development assistance to restart the economy, and holding elections in a country with little-to-no democratic experience;
- Peacekeepers are being asked not only to protect civilians but, often, to help the government stabilize the situation and extend its control over its own territory in countries threatened by extremists; and
- Any other reason you can think of …

Second – The “Black Hat” Mercenaries, hired by a Major House and posing as pirates – their primary objective – the destabilization of specific world(s) - secondary objective – the Heist.

(Remember: Where once you had to barter for salvage rights now being a “Black Hat” you will need to barter for ransacking rights –the bank, the jewelry exchange, the art gallery …… your employer will always want their share!)

Thus there will be a rise in the number of small scale wars for the for-see-able future.

(Nt: However Remember the RWR – your fist task will be to stabilize this area of space ….The People are going to “love” SLDF / SLPF units as peacekeepers … whist at the same time the Lyrans want to conquer as much of it as they can at the same time.)

Long Term Issues (100 – 200 years into the future?)

Due to ongoing budget cuts – personnel performance reorganization etc the number of overall SLPF force units will be reduce considerably.
The Grand Council will make you as efficient as possible – “lean and mean” (Right, like anyone’s going to believe that!)
Expect to have really old gear compared to House Units.
The entirety of the SLPF will be spread thin – throughout the periphery – along border worlds – any anywhere House Lords can manufacture a “need” for them.

Sometime in the for-see-able future – night of the Long Knives on the remaining SLPF?
Or they will just become sooooo “efficient in size” (small) their effectiveness will be next to nil in the event of a major conflagration between the Great Houses over extensive areas of territory.

So the Great Council Remains in-tact, every Great Lord still lives on Terra, they are at war with each other, but that doesn’t matter ….. Terra is going to become a real Dystopian world to live on if you are part of the Ruling Elite …. All smiles, balls and events, and everyone are friends in the light of day …. In the dark of night all knives are out …. And in the backdrop their armies are waging war with each other … whist their SLPF guards everyone …..

What a crazy universe this is going to be!
Get thee to Coventry … Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious by this daughter of Tharkad … Our army shall march through. Well to New Avalon tonight.
