--- Engineered during the Star League era, the L3G Legend is a 95-Ton Assault Class BattleMech designed to appeal to nobles and other wealthy MechWarriors looking for a way to distinguish themselves from others. The tagline, "Drive a Legend, Be a Legend" became the cornerstone of the marketing campaign for this 'Mech. This campaign would prove to be far more effective than was ever hoped for. At first, the 'Mech was "in vogue" among royalty and collectors, but as it made it's way onto the battlefield it proved to be a tough, powerful and enduring combatant with a reputation for bringing it's pilot home alive. This would lead to the Legend seeing more wide scale adoption by various powers, including the SLDF. At the same time, this reputation diminished it's appeal as status symbol and began to solidify as a real legend in combat.

--- The marketing slogan shifted to, "You've heard the Legend, now own it." and it quickly gained a reputation among the very nobles it was pitched to as the 'Mech of a "true warrior". These sales would see the 'Mech through the Succession Wars, as with so many in the inventories of so many forces and nobles a variant would appear that stripped out the LosTech for more common components. This variant would be known as the L2S, nicknamed the "Succession Special" by those who loved it and the "Lesser Legend" by those who did not. After the recovery of the Helm Memory Core, this 'Mech would slowly see itself restored to it's former glory, with new models eventually rolling off the lines just in time for the FedComm Civil War. A 'Mech that just refuses to die, the Legend is a fine addition to any army, regardless of variant.

The operational concept of the Legend L3G is to have a pair of energy weapons for long range (the PPCs) and a pair of energy weapons for short range (the Large Pulse Lasers). The LRMs provided token indirect fire support and provided a stand-off option while the SRMs gave you some extra punch at knife fighting range as well as something to mess up infantry with under the Alternative Ammo rules. It is rather expensive overall, and while it lacks mobility like many other Assault 'Mechs, the L3G has good rear armor to compensate.

The L2S loses the accurate fire of the Large Pulse Lasers, but gains more range from the standard ones. The heat saved from the switch is lost due to the change from Double to SIngle Heatsinks in the L2S. Both of these 'Mechs run quite hot, and the L2S variant has less armor overall the the L3G, but it also a good deal cheaper. The L2S is still a pretty good Assault 'Mech for 3025 being cheaper than an Atlas, but more expensive than Awesome all while packing a similar punch to both of them and having more tactical flexibility than both of them.

Since it is a brawler, with two fully articulated arms, I'd switch the locations of the main armament. Put the PPC's in the arms, and the large lasers in the torso because... you can't fire an arm weapon when punching. At point blank the lasers can fire accurately and will likely hit, the PPC's not as likely (so they could go in the arms, which you will be punching with anyway.)

That's about it, they are OK designs, good call on the SFE for durability. I personally don't like little LRM racks, if it were my mech I'd drop it for another SRM4, or in the current-era model I'd drop them for PPC capacitors and a c3 slave.

--- I disagree with those changes myself, with the exception of replace the LRMs with SRMs. I like the LRM 5 because replacing it with an SRM-4 is rather trivial, so if it's damaged, under performing or I am just too broke to afford LRM ammo, it's an easy refit. The LPLs are in the arms for the sake of firing arcs, Side Torso arcs are much more limited than arm arcs, but firing arcs get better as the range to target increases, so I put the PPCs there instead. That said, while I personally don't agree with the suggested changes I do think they are good ones, so I present to you the L4HGS, or the "Happy Guy Special", a modified L2S with the changes specified above.

--- The positions of the Lasers and PPCs are swapped, and the LRM 5s are swapped out for another pair of SRM 4s and another ton of SRM ammo. Creating an analog for the L3G would be pretty straightforward, I think it could be called the L6HG, but I decided on the 3025 one because "H" comes after "G", the 3025 is already the "S" and the 2750 one is the 3 "G". 4 comes after 3 and is 2 more than 2, so the "L4HGS" was a very fitting name for the "Happy Guy Special". I like it enough that I'll head canonize it as a popular field refit, since fitting a four tubed missile launcher in a five tubed hardpoint isn't exactly that hard, and moving around some energy weapons and heat sinks would be pretty trivial as well.

A more expensive model featuring Clan-spec weaponry would be pretty rad. It would probably come with an awesome paint job as well.
