Lore

Constructed in 3037 as part of Hans Davions attempts to build up the Federated Suns military. The Specialised Light Support Vehicle or Sellvee was a small combat vehicle, was designed to act as a work horse unit on military bases; help transport cargo and move troops into limited scale firefights.

Built around a lightweight fusion engine, granting it infinite range, the unit was made with the ability to move a fireteam of 10 into position, and also transport up to a ton of cargo between bases. While seeming like a rather poor at its job when compared to heavy lifters which could haul dozens of tons of cargo at a time, or APC's which could move over 60 combat units at a time, the Sellvee was designed to pick up the small scale jobs around bases, and grant greater tactical flexibility to units, by giving them the ability to deploy a lighter unit to smaller roles, rather then sending 10 men in a 20 ton APC to go disperses some protestors.

Noted for its boxy design and ease of manufacture, hundreds of thousands of Sellvee's were manufactured between 3035 and 3048, with the design first coming to prominence during the War of 3039, where it was able to relive heavier combat units of the duty of pulling rear guard duties, and acted as a suitable patrol unit in freshly occupied regions within the budding Federated Commonwealth.

In 3048 the Sellvee was redesigned with the Sellvee II, which was a redesign of the unit. While sharing the same mass, troop transport capacity, the Sellvee upgraded its technology to E rating, dropped its 1004kg cargo bay to 855kg, increased its speed from 87kph for its cruising speed and 130kph for its flank speed, as well as allowed it to function as a tractor, giving it the ability to haul even more cargo. This version came to replace the Sellvee in most frontline units, though the standard Sellvee built around its Tech D rating was kept in service on backwater worlds.

While it never reached any notoriety many infantry troops remember the experience of riding around in the back of one such vehicle while on patrol.

Concept

The Sellvee is my take on a Humvee, a workhorse transport vehicle made for lighter military duties then full on APC or IFV's. I checked and I found a lack of these in the setting so I decided to design one.

I really like the idea of a fusion-powered support vehicle, and like the concept in general. Support vehicles don't get enough love.

However, in the 3035 to 3048 period "hundreds of thousands" of fusion engines were not available for secondary vehicles. It was an era when the Inner Sphere was just digging itself out of a technological hole and it was considered exotic for front combat vehicles like the Rommel and Patton to have fusion engines. Just a few years before 3035, it was typical for fusion-powered vehicles to be stripped of their engine to rebuild 'Mechs.

Perhaps the Sellvee mark 1 was IC or fuel cell, while the post-3067 model was fusion powered?

Depends on how you play, are we fully following canon or are we just enjoying the game while having our version of canon for our own groups?

That's a fair complaint. I will say I did try a ICE however getting one at 6/9 with a ICE or Fuel was VERY difficult, if I did I would have to drop it to a 5/8 movement, but your probably right.

And yes this was more made for fun, its not really a effective combat unit out of anything other than VERY low level games.
