Lore

When the Word of Blake took Terra, they siezed control of many Comstar research projects, including the Purifier Adaptive and its mimetic armour. This was a heavy blow to the organisations research and they were forced to go back to the drawing board. The result was the Tod Fox, a heavier bulkier battle armour, but one that was geared towards a slightly different mission profile: blowing through enemy armour at long range (for a Battle Armour).

Unlike most battle armours the Tod Fox held what could be considered oversized hand held weaponry, utilising a detachable weapon mount to have a flexible mission profile and access to many different weapon options. While this would hamper most units with low speed, the Tod Fox used the newly redesigned mimetic armour to offset this difficulty, with its near invisible nature aided by its slow speed making it a patient hunter and effective line holder in urban and wooded terrain. It is no doubt the Comstar engineers took ques from the clan made Cuchulainn battle armour, though streamlined the suits overall production capability, making it easier to produce and maintain: with it having the option to utilise the same clan made weapons for the Cuchulainn. It could even swap its hand actuators out with its two BA manipulator adaptors for battle claws when utilising lighter weapons, often opting for heavy magnetic battle claws for increased flexibility when deployed.

Sadly the Tod Fox did not see a mass roll out to Comstar forces. As it came to fruition by the half way point of the Jihad, the suit saw extensive deployment in the conflict but like the rest of the Comguard was scrapped following the conflict.

Design

Okay so this suit came about with me playing with detachable weapon and seeing the Cuchulainn battle armour. I messed around with it and then found Mimetic armour was a strangely perfect fit. The suits slow speed of 1MP (2Mp when it drops the weapon) due to the detachable weapon pack allows it to keep up the mimetic armours +3 to hit bonus, which when combined with the battle armour increases to a insane +4 - which if correctly positioned in urban terrain or woodland can go higher especially with range effects. And Thanks to it being able to use Pulse lasers and ER medium lasers which it can swap out it can VERY easily keep other BA units at range or can pepper mechs with a consistent 20 damage in a standard lance, or 30 damage if used by comstar.

Due to its detachable weapon mount and claws the suit can also be customised with various claws making it a good utility mech and also most of the IS armoury of weapons. Also its 399BV with the IS ER medium laser makes it a fair point cost to deploy, though above IS average. And with 10 points of mimetic armour it can take a hit.

The only down side to the suit is the lack of internal space to play around with.

Nice, I like it. Beefy, stealthy, and carries a potent weapon.

Glad you like it, its a bit of a Cuchulainn rip off, but its got the option of adding claws and gets a better to hit modifier.

Stick a few of these in a need to hold position, on the edge of a wood or in good cover and have them hold the line. And in urban settings just swap the ER laser for a standard laser and give it a nice juicy heavy magnetic battle claws or vibro claws and allow them to ambush enemies.

Alas after doing some research I have discovered that the Tarnis battle armour fulfils a similar role. Though focuses on two weapons rather then one.

I mean the Tod Fox has better range and can carry heavier gear, but the Tarnis can too if it swaps out for one weapon. Though the Tod foc can equip battle claws.
