Okay, so no backstory on this save it likely being a Draconis attempt to rebuild the Charger again. But this came from watching a friend make a charger one shot a enemy mech in Mechwarrior 5 in one of them. I wanted to make one that could move its regular speed of 5/8 and sort of just bring more to the design. I added the XL gyro to squeeze in a hatchet as it previously had a sword. Yes it upped the cost but dam if it isn't worth it.
Yes I will say this mech isn't 'practical' but it is for a Charger. It doesn't cost 20 million because of a XL, it has a few medium lasers so it still has range; and it hasn't dropped its armour by a insane amount to fit a single large gun. Its just decent armour, decent protection, a tad overpriced but not excessively so and it can now chase down light mechs and split them in half. And for 1210 BV its cheap enough to get a good pilot in it and maybe slap some melee SPAs on it.
Its not the best.
But its running at you with a huge AXE at 80KPH

It likely will, though my freinds saw this more as a light mech hunter in the same vein as a grasshopper but more focused on running them down. Not likely catch them but move closer and whack them for 16 damage.

My group has one guy who will use the hatchet mechs when he can. We have all learned to shoot his mechs down first, then go after each other. Personally, I am not a fan of melee weapons on mechs outside of Solaris VII.
