Descriptor

In short the Atlas IVC is a clan build of the Atlas which started on a question of, can I make a practical clan mech with single heat sinks, and I leaned in on it. In short the Atlas IIC or IIICs I have seen have often leant in on the high level technology to give it a insane edge over an enemy, often using XL engines or more.

This mech was built from inception to bring more 'Atlas' to the Atlas. And the Atlas is at its core is a dependable assault mech, not a line breaker or a jack of all trades. It was made as a mech that could use easily found parts and have lots of redundancy so it can stay on the board and slug it out with the best till the cows came home. And that is what this one was made to do.

With 10 of its 22 single heat sinks spread out across its CT, LT, RT and legs allows it to take enormous punishment from crits, while its reinforced structure helps to massively reduce any potential crits getting through. Also like the Atlas the majority of its heavy hitting weapons are in its side torsos, giving it protection to losing a arm from a lucky critical. In short its redundant to all hell, it has a structure which makes losing armour less risky and with maximum armour it can carry it has a LOT of armour.

All in all its not a complicated build, and past 3085 the reinforced structure is dropped to advanced tech rather than experimental so it would not be uncommon to see it; all its weapons are fairly ubiquitous amongst the clans; and it is cheap for a clan assault mech both in C-Bills and battle value.

Variations

Atlas IVC AS70-D4C-RS

A clan take on the popular Succession War RS model, the AS70-D4C-RS replaces all the weapons for a LRM 15 with Artemis IV and 2 tons of ammo, the SRM 6 for a Streak SRM 6 with 1 ton of ammo, the heavy medium lasers for 2 Medium pulse lasers, and the LB-X20 for a Ultra AC/10, with 3 tons of ammo, though it loses the small laser. Sadly it has to lose half a ton of armour, but it keeps all 22 single heat sinks, which allows it to dissipate 22 of its 25 heat, which makes it a rather cool assault mech, even for the clans.

Atlas IV AS70-D4C-Dr

Logistically a more difficult version to field, the DR version takes the IS Atlas D4C-Dr and gives the standard Atlas IVC a ER PPC and ECM suite where the LB-X AC 20 would have been. This allows it to add 4 more heat sinks and swap the 2 heavy lasers for 4 medium ER lasers, 2 of which are rear facing. While now having a insane heat cure of 47 to its 26 heat sinks, it is a stable build with ECM cover. It also upgrades the LRM 20 and SRM 6 to a Artemis IV LRM 20 with 2 tons of ammo and a Streak 6, with 1 ton of ammo.

Atlas IV AS70-D4C-H2

A take on the venerable Atlas II. The D4C-H2 swaps the 22 single heat sinks out for 15 Double Heat sinks for better heat dissipation, though this means they are now only mounted in the CT and Legs. This model now mounts a Streak LRM 15 in the RT and a Streak SRM 6 in the LT; two ER large lasers are mounted in the left arm and a clan RAC/5 in mounted in the right arm. The ammo for this mech is divided into 1 ton of rotary ammo and the streak 6 ammo in the left torso and 2 tons of streak LRM 15 and 2 tons of RAC/5 ammo in the left torso. Both torsos are protected by clan CASE II. Now while a very powerful build this one has sacrificed the builds crit redundancy from plentiful heat sinks for better cooling and more powerful weapons. The build has a cooling capacity of 30 and generates 41 heat. Its not the most stable build and as I finish it I have had a idea for a more practical variation.

Atlas IV AS70-D4C-H2B

A simple rebuild of the Atlas IV AS70-D4C-H2 which allows it to act as advanced unit rather than a experimental unit. Removing the CASE II and the RAC/5, it replaces the weapon in the arm right arm with a HAG-20 with 4 tons of ammo, 2 tons mounted in bother left torso, and 1 ton in the right torso, with 1 ton in the head. This adds as decent crit padding and lowers a chance for a ammo explosion. Also with the reinforced structure the build can endure a HAG exploding in the arm. Like the former this build falls in line with more standard clan mechs, but it still can take a lot of punishment.
