Link to OG Thread Here ====> Darkstar Class --- I was trawling through my old posts looking for something... damned if I remember what, but I stumbled across this old trainwreck and decided to finish it as I promised so long ago. It turns out that the ship blew mega ****, so a ground up re-design was in order. I for one and am quite satisfied with the results.
--- This ship really only has two things going for it: Extreme Speed and Extreme Range. The armor is merely adequate, and the weaponry is downright anemic. It's main focus is to force engagements in such a way that it's overwhelming maneuverability forces the enemy to retreat on threat of running out of fuel. The Darkstar has enough speed to run rings around all but the fastest ships and enough fuel to do it for way longer than almost any other AeroSpace fighter in existence. It likewise fulfills the Light Cavalry role beautifully, running down and taking out the retreating and preferably wounded. It's a natural born scavenger, able to put down the dying and run down the fleeing.
--- Overall, I like it. I think with proper utilization this could be an excellent ship not just for the advertised roles, but for escort, recon, patrol, defense and a slew of other engagements. It's not a stand up fighter, nor a ground support ship in even the barest of function, but it's an effective if unorthodox combatant nonetheless.
